Join us for Pride in Health – a free LGBTQIA+ health care event hosted by Macmillan Cancer Support, Whittington Health NHS Trust and North Central London Cancer Alliance; this event will feature:
Talks by LGBTQIA+ healthcare professionals
A theatre performance based on real patient stories
Wellness sessions, including laughter yoga
An interactive workshop on cancer, relationships, and sexual wellbeing
A private viewing of the Q***r Britain Museum

Creative Conversations with Wake the Beast

I haven’t had a drink in over two years.
And in Irish circles, that’s a long time. The reactions range from “Fair play to you!” to “Are you alright?”

This episode dives into the complicated story between Ireland and alcohol — we’re diving headfirst into the messy, mythic, and sometimes maddening relationship between Irish identity and alcohol; the pints that bring us together, the stereotypes that cling to us, and the hangovers, literal and cultural, that we’re still trying to shake off.

We’ll be talking to anthropologists, historians, comedians, and people from across the Irish diaspora — asking:
Why is alcohol so bound up in Irish identity?
Is it still serving us – or is it time to call last orders?

Join us — either in person or via Zoom — for a live recording of this unfiltered, honest, and entertaining conversation.

Bring your stories, your thoughts, or just your listening ears. Whether you’ve quit drinking, never started, or have a love-hate relationship with the pub, your voice is welcome.
