🌾Across rural Leicestershire, harvest is underway.
The combines are out.
Tractors are moving.
Trailers are full.
This isn’t just another summer – it’s the most important few weeks of the farming year.
And it’s been far from easy.
A wet start to 2025 delayed drilling. Then came the dry. Fields that were already struggling got parched just when the crops needed moisture most. Yields are down. Pressure is up. And for many farmers, this harvest will be one of the hardest they’ve faced in years.
Behind every dusty machine is someone carrying a lot on their shoulders — long days, financial strain, and, for some, the quiet weight of poor mental health. Farming can be isolating. The pressure is relentless. And too often, it goes unseen. Check in on each other.
People are working dawn to dusk, often well into the night.
The harvest vehicles are slow, they’re wide, and they don’t move like cars.
But they’re feeding the nation – and doing it under enormous pressure. 🇬🇧
So when you meet them on the road:
🌾Slow down.
🌾 Keep back.
🌾Don’t take risks.
One impatient move to overtake, one misjudged decision – and someone doesn’t go home.
These vehicles can’t stop quickly.
Visibility is limited.
And rural roads don’t forgive mistakes.
Farmers don’t want praise – just space, time, and respect.
Let them get the job done and let’s get them and you get home safely. 🌾
To those working this harvest: we see the effort. We know the pressure.
Let’s all play our part and keep this harvest safe — on the roads, in the fields, and for the people behind the wheel. 🇬🇧
