🏁 Overview of the 2026 MRO600 “Next Generation” Regulations

The club has updated the MRO600 Supersport regulations for the 2026 season to include “Next Generation” (Next Gen) type bikes. These changes align with broader trends in Supersport racing, where new middleweight models are being introduced that differ in engine capacity, technology, and tuning philosophy from traditional 600cc inline-fours.

The goal is to allow these new bikes to compete fairly at club level while keeping racing accessible, affordable, and balanced across different motorcycle types.

⚙️ Why “Next Gen” Bikes Are Being Included

Modern manufacturers like Yamaha and KTM are producing middleweight twins or triples (e.g., Yamaha R9, KTM990 RC R) that produce around 120–130 horsepower when tuned. These engines differ from the older inline-four 600cc bikes in power delivery and torque characteristics.

To stay relevant and attract riders using these newer models, Bemsee has updated the rules so that such bikes can compete in MRO600 — but within a controlled power limit - 130hp (Bemsee Dyno) to ensure parity.

🔧 How Performance Balancing Works

For newer Next Gen models (like the Yamaha R9 or KTM 990 RC R):
These bikes typically make considerably less than 130 hp in stock form, so competitors must tune up (within the permitted limit) to reach the target performance level.

This is straightforward and easy to police, since the Bemsee Technical Team can measure amongst other things dyno output and verify compliance.

It keeps costs relatively low and ensures the bikes compete on equal footing.

For older, higher-powered models (like the Suzuki GSX-R750 or early Ducati Panigale V2):
These bikes already produce more than 130 hp in standard form. To make them eligible, they would need to be restricted down to the same performance level.

The only fair and accurate way to restrict these bikes is through advanced ECU's and throttle mapping.

These systems are expensive and complex, introducing both higher costs and greater policing challenges for a club-level series.

Because of these issues, Bemsee has chosen to exclude the high-powered models (like GSX-R750s and early V2s) rather than trying to restrict them artificially. This ensures that all competitors race on a level playing field without making the class prohibitively expensive.

Our decision reflects its core aim:
➡️To maintain competitive parity and keep racing affordable for the everyday club racer.

By balancing performance limits in this way:
➡️Riders of modern “Next Gen” middleweights can compete fairly.
➡️Riders of traditional 600cc bikes are not disadvantaged.
➡️The need for complex and costly electronic restrictions is avoided.

➡️This approach ensures the MRO600 Supersport class remains accessible, exciting, and cost-effective, even as motorcycle technology evolves.

🏁 BSB NEWS: Scott Redding Signs Full-Time with PBM Ducati for 2026 🏁

Scott Redding will remain on the Bennetts British Superbike Championship grid next season after officially signing a full-time deal with PBM Ducati. 🔥

Redding returned to BSB at Knockhill earlier this year as a stand-in for the injured Glenn Irwin, but after a strong comeback, the partnership turned into something much bigger. Since then, he’s bagged 5 wins and 5 podiums, despite missing the opening three rounds — and currently sits seventh in the standings with three races to go. 💪

🗣️ “I’ve really enjoyed every moment since coming back. The team’s drive to win is exactly as I remembered in 2019. We’ve already had some great results this season — and that was just a taster. I can’t wait to go full-time in 2026.” – Scott Redding

Redding famously clinched the 2019 BSB title with PBM, taking 11 wins and 20 podiums in his only full-time season in the series. In 2026, he’ll be gunning for the team’s 10th BSB crown.

Team Owner Jordan Bird added: “Scott has been an absolute pleasure to work with. His commitment, focus, and hunger to win are exceptional.”

📆 2026 can’t come soon enough. Welcome back, Scott. 🔴🏆
