Mariner of the Seas will be based in Southampton for the first time in 2027. The Royal Caribbean ship will sail a range of two- to nine-night itineraries including the Norwegian fjords, Porto, Copenhagen and Seville.

Viking's worldwide fleet has soared above 100 after the naming of nine new river ships in Basel, Switzerland. No other cruise line has as many river, ocean and expedition vessels combined. Chairman and CEO Torstein Hagen said: 'Over the last 28 years we have grown from four ships to more than 100 - a fleet size that no other line has achieved.'

A third ship is to join the Scenic ocean fleet in 2028. At 270 passengers, Scenic Ikon will be bigger than its 228-guest sisters Scenic Eclipse I and II. The maiden season, beginning in Venice in April 2028, will feature 110 ports, 21 countries and 26 new destinations.

Adults-only P&O Cruises ships Arcadia and Aurora will welcome children on certain dates during school holidays and over the Christmas break from December 2026.

Twelve cruises on Aurora and eight on Arcadia will be available to families up to and including September 2027.

Menus for children will be available together with baby changing and bottle-warming facilities and both ships will offer entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy.

Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: 'Following guest feedback we are inviting all ages to join Arcadia and Aurora on selected holidays so the whole family can come together to experience these elegant ships. Arcadia and Aurora will continue to offer holidays exclusively for adults for the majority of the year.'

Bookings open today with cruises available on Aurora from December 11, 2026, and on Arcadia from December 21, 2026.

The move contrasts with a recent decision by Ambassador Cruise Line to drop multi-generational cruises in 2027/28 following ‘extensive guest feedback’.

MSC Meraviglia will sail from Southampton between May and October 2027, offering 19 cruises ranging from six to 14 nights. MSC Virtuosa will complete her ex-UK season next year and then move to Barcelona for summer 2027. In winter 2026/27, MSC Preziosa will replace MSC Poesia in Southampton.
