Just a reminder that next saturday we're back at the The Book Club in Shoreditch for our second day party of the year! Matt and Jamesey are fresh from their much talked about sets at Djoon in Paris and ready to rock the joint!

Makin’ Moves bring this archived studio gem to the fore as it was just too damn good to be left sitting on the drive! Rewind back to 2005 and a chance studio meeting in London between Bugz in the Attic producer Afronaut aka Orin Walters and Justin Chapman aka Just One, who was in town to play a gig with the Bugz crew. The two decided to work on some tracks, and this one captures a time in London where there was a huge melting pot of new sounds in the broken beat era / scene and that sound was at the forefront of London’s club scene including night’s like Co-op at Plastic People in Shoreditch. However, these sounds still have stayed the test of time and very prominent still in clubland today.

Justin’s vocals touch on the persistence of race in American politics – an issue that was as real in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina is it is in the post George Floyd era.

Phil Asher (RIP) at the time loved the track and decided to do his own “Restless Soul Dub” remix version, adding his characteristic drums and stripping the vocal back while also keeping the soulfulness of Justin’s mix.

Also featured on the package are two other mixes the excellent Blaktones Mix is must have for all the co-op broken beat heads, seeing Afronaught using those classic sounds to full effect to set the party off!

Friday news! What a weekend we had in Paris last weekend, the vibe was something else throughout the day and really appreciate the wonderful crowd at DJOON and Kapela for the invite!

What an evening!! Makin’ Moves residents Matt L-S & Jamesey most certainly brought the vibes back down at The Book Club! We would like to send a special thank you to everyone who supported and danced the night away! We salute You 🫡

Firstly with the night kicking off with the dance workshop hosted once again by Jev who always bring out the creativity and expressions in the dancers and going from strength to strength. Honourable salute 🫡

Then makin’ her debut Blissy_E who certainly brought her A game to the party, showing her musical skills on the 1’s & 2’s ! An impressive start to the night and kept the dancers in check on the dance floor! What a pleasure to have you perform at Makin’ Moves.

And then our good friend from across the pond from NJ Jihad Muhammad who once again set the tone with some serious setting the tone for the rest of the evening. Glad to have you back down once again! It’s been a minute!! 🫡
