After decades of fronting some of the most forward-thinking projects in American Rock, Tom Hamilton finally claims his solo voice with "I’m Your Vampire," set for release on 23 January via AWAL/Relix. The Philadelphia-born songwriter, guitarist, and producer — best known for his work with "Brothers Past," "American Babies," "Ghost Light," and "Joe Russo’s Almost Dead," channels three decades of creative exploration into his most personal statement yet.
The record’s first single, "Don’t Give Up On Me," featured below, with an evocative video directed by Joe Lee, captures Tom at his rawest — wrestling with resilience, reflection, and renewal. Co-produced with Alex Farrar known for his work with MJ Lenderman, the album threads together rugged Rock textures and lyrical self-examination, tracing a journey from darkness to clarity.
Tom’s musical roots run deep. From forming "Brothers Past" straight out of high school to helping redefine the Grateful Dead’s legacy through Joe Russo's Almost Dead, his guitar has long been a conduit for fearless reinvention. Along the way, he’s also worked behind the scenes, producing The Disco Biscuits "Planet Anthem" and an early recording for a then-unknown Kurt Vile.
Now, with a new album on the horizon, Tom steps forward not as a collaborator, but as an artist in full command of his identity. His upcoming tour, supporting Band of Skulls, promises to showcase the next powerful evolution of a career built on never standing still.
In a recent interview, I asked him how the stillness of the pandemic years — and the personal challenges that came with them — reshape your outlook and the way you approach making music today, he told me:
“When you're in a van on the road for 20 years, you live in your bubble, you think that your world is one way — and it's not. The pandemic break gave me the time to see that. Then my band broke up and my dad got sick. The only respite I had was the studio. It takes effort to not just be jaded as we age — to not look at the world in a hardened way.”
And that brings me nicely to the featured single - "Don't Give Up On Me."
There’s a raw ache at the core of this song that finds Tom wrestling with connection, loss, and the fragile persistence of hope. The track blends vulnerability with grit, driven by bruised vocals and a pulse that refuses to fade. It’s the sound of someone clawing their way toward light, holding fast to love even as the world threatens to pull it apart.
To close, this single and forthcoming album won’t gather dust in any collection, and will keep heads bouncing and feet tapping from sofa to stage. So why not clear a space, and give Tom Hamilton a try for 2025.
