It’s been a while, Instagram fam 🕰️

It’s been a crazy few months with studio and workflow projects and research, as well as some huge life changes (positive, for once)!

Needless to say I’ve been beavering away in any (rare) spare time with tutorials and courses to try and keep a toe in my personal work - here’s a little sea village I created following along course on that was so much fun and out of my comfort zone with environment and buildings!

Also mega shoutout to for the fantastic VDB tutorial for creating some real volumetric clouds ☁️

Holy moly, it’s a triple-fest!

I almost fell asleep before this wet creeper finished rendering, and he only just emerged in time for today’s prompts!

I reworked, relit, re-haired and reanimated last year’s entry, as a bit of a cheat 🤫

This shouldn’t have taken long. The little blighter was even animated. But would Octane decide to render my usual lovely pathtracing lighting tonight? Absolutely not.

So our poor Wendigo friend is left out in the cold (which he usually is anyway) with inferior direct lighting instead, and not left with enough time to render out his wee idle animation in time for today’s deadline.

PSYCHO KILLER / POISON PUNK

Signal had his arse handed to him over and over again during Cody & co’s rage on the streets of Wood Oak City all that time ago.

Spending the next few years in and out of hospital wards and special treatment units, he’d never be the same again. On top of that, he’d never financially recover either.

Battered physically and mentally, he had no choice in his eviction to the streets he used to roam with such confidence. To chase the cold nights and pain away, he resorted to back alley drugs and “medications”.

Developing a freak resilience to the most acrid of chemicals over this time, Signal began to plot and stalk his old tormentors.

One by one, he’d pick them off with a simple touch of his now bio-hazardous skin, and abscond them to the warehouse he was forced to call home. There, he would prep them for a final, bubbling green bathe in a tub of his favourite chemical concoctions.

If you ever find yourself in the wrong back alleys of the city, you can still hear him soaking himself in their glowing remains, cackling with toxic glee…
