Apostle Kawinga’s Charity Work Wins Praise as He Expands Food and Farming Support

Apostle Clifford Kawinga, founder of Salvation for All Ministries International (SFAMI) and owner of Creck Football Club, is earning widespread praise for his continued humanitarian efforts that are transforming lives across Malawi.

For years, Apostle Kawinga has been reaching out to vulnerable families with food assistance during difficult times — including the COVID-19 pandemic, Cyclone Freddy, and the annual lean seasons.

He says the support is a way of sharing the love of Christ while complementing government efforts to fight hunger.

Beginning at the end of November, he will roll out his annual maize and food distribution program, which will run through February and benefit communities in several districts nationwide.

Beyond food relief, Apostle Kawinga is promoting long-term empowerment through the Hope Field Initiative, a programme that supports farmers with fertilizer, seeds, solar pumps, and farming tools.

The initiative currently operates in Machinga, Chiradzulu, and Thyolo Districts, reaching thousands of households.

In Machinga, seven farmers’ clubs have been formed under Paramount Chief Kawinga, while Chiradzulu has four under T/A Nkalo, T/A Mpunga, and STA Maoni.

In Thyolo, two clubs under Senior Chief Nkhwethemule and Senior Chief Mphuka are benefiting around 4,000 households.

Each club has received maize for casual workers, hoes, fertilizer, and solar pumps to improve productivity.

Many Malawians have taken to social media to applaud Apostle Kawinga’s generosity and hard work.

One person writing on Facebook described him as a self-made entrepreneur who rose from selling clothes from his car boot in 2009 to establishing a successful hardware business before venturing into ministry.

“He has prospered through hard work and continues to share his blessings with people across Malawi,” the post reads.

“His support cuts across political and social lines — he helps everyone.”

Through Salvation for All Ministries International, Apostle Kawinga remains committed to feeding the hungry, empowering farmers, and preaching the message of hope — earning him recognition as one of Malawi’s most compassionate faith and business leaders.

NOCMA CASH-GATE: Nyangulu, Chimwendo Banda, Kachaje, and CEO Implicated

Malawi News Network - MNN has uncovered a large-scale plunder of government resources at the National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA), allegedly involving business mogul and evangelist Milward Nyangulu, former minister Richard Chimwendo Banda, MERA CEO Henry Kachaje, and the NOCMA Chief Executive Officer during the MCP regime.

According to the reports, Milward Nyangulu financed the construction of a filling station in Area 25C for Chimwendo Banda, built houses for the NOCMA Chief Executive in Area 43, and funded a filling station for Kachaje at Nathenje. These projects are believed to be part of a broader scheme to divert funds from NOCMA operations.

Further investigations indicate that Nyangulu also purchased a farm in Kapiri, Mchinji District, allegedly for President Lazarus Chakwera and Kachaje. President Chakwera reportedly visited the site and announced plans to engage in “mega farming,” with Nyangulu acting as his proxy.

Sources claim the same network oversaw the construction of fuel storage tanks at Namitete, where NOCMA trucks reportedly continue to offload fuel directly from Dar es Salaam and Beira, raising questions about accountability and transparency.

Despite portraying himself as a pastor, Nyangulu is alleged to be using his influence and financial power to bribe key DPP officials in a bid to secure political protection and cover up his involvement in the scandal. Reports suggest that Nyangulu and his associates are deeply involved in fuel theft and illegal resource diversion from NOCMA.

Cables challenge investigators and the public to verify these claims by checking the Kapiri farms in Mchinji, the Area 25 filling station for Chimwendo, and the Nathenje station for Kachaje, and to consult local residents who can attest to ownership and activities.

Meanwhile, concerns continue to grow that Nyangulu is channeling significant funds to one DPP official close to power to regain influence and shield himself from prosecution.

Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation Water Development Rosa Fatch Mbilizi, has underscored the significant role of the Malawi-Zambia maize procurement deal in addressing the country's looming food insecurity challenges.

Speaking during the contract signing ceremony in Lilongwe on Wednesday, Mbilizi attributed the severe food insecurity to poor agricultural performance over the past two years.

The Minister said Mutharika’s new administration has priotised the urgency of addressing food insecurity, hence the implementation of several strategic interventions such as intesfied irrigated and winter cropping and promotion of resilient crops.

Speaking on behalf of the Zambian Government, Minister Of Agriculture-Zambia Rueben Mtolo commended the Malawian Government for priorising to address food insecurity before addressing other challenges it is facing.

Mtolo said the Zambian Government is committed to supporting humanitarian efforts including addressing food insecurity hence the collaboration with Malawi.

Under the deal Zambia will export 200,000 metric tons of maize to Malawi worth K382.7 billion to help address the country's food shortage.

Reserve Bank Governor Mafuta Mwale Accused of Openly Funding the Malawi Congress Party (MCP)

Sources within the Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) have confided that Mafuta Mwale, the current Governor of the RBM, allegedly authorized MK300 million to benefit MCP loyalists.

It is alleged that some of this money was paid to MCP supporters whom Mwale invited to the Reserve Bank offices in Blantyre, following Vitumbiko Mumba’s rally at Njamba Park, just days before the 16 September elections.

Eyewitnesses and insiders have further revealed that a picture has been circulating online showing MCP supporters queuing at the Reserve Bank of Malawi premises in Blantyre to receive the alleged payouts.

The image, which has sparked widespread outrage on social media, is being cited as further evidence of partisan misuse of public resources.

By openly inviting MCP supporters to the RBM premises and disbursing public funds, Mafuta Mwale is said to have disregarded professional ethics expected of the Governor of a central bank.

Such conduct, critics argue, reflects the behavior of a political operative rather than that of a neutral public servant.

*Ben Phiri asks MPs to vote for Suleman as Speaker*

Ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Director of Political Affairs, Dr. Ben Phiri, has appealed to Members of Parliament to rally behind Sameer Suleman for the position of Speaker of the National Assembly.

Dr. Phiri described Suleman as a seasoned and experienced legislator capable of providing effective and impartial leadership in Parliament.

He dismissed social media reports alleging that he is against Suleman’s endorsement, clarifying that he is, in fact, at the forefront of mobilising support for him.

The DPP has officially nominated Suleman, who is the Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South East, as its candidate for Speaker ahead of the crucial parliamentary vote set for October 29, 2025.

A MAN OF INTEGRITY WHO BELIEVES IN HARD WORK: THE CASE OF CHITHYOLA BANDA

A video has been circulating online, showing what is said to be Hon. Simplex Chithyola Banda’s warehouse, with claims that he is hoarding maize allegedly produced using fertilizer obtained through the NEEF program. For the record, Hon. Chithyola Banda has never benefited from or used that facility. He does not take things on credit—he works for what he owns.

Hon. Chithyola Banda belongs to the class of visionary entrepreneurs such as Napoleon Dzombe, Thom Mpinganjira, Simbi Phiri, and the Muli brothers—Malawians whose success stories are built on diligence, integrity, and enterprise. He is a man of principles who believes that wealth and progress are born out of hard work, not shortcuts.

Those who know him personally understand that he is either at the farm or in the office, even during odd hours. Farming is not a hobby for him; it is a passion and a livelihood. The harvests seen at his warehouses are the fruit of tireless effort and disciplined management. As a platinum farmer, he works the soil with his own hands, growing a variety of crops and keeping livestock on a large scale—proof of his industrious spirit.

From a young age, Simplex has been a darling of development partners because of his ability to generate transformative ideas that often turn into tangible results. Give him a task, and he delivers it with perfection. He has also built a family that reflects his values—rooted in faith, humility, and the philosophy of One Malawi, One People, One Nation.

His track record in public service speaks for itself. During his time in Parliament, every budget he presented passed with overwhelming support—even from both sides of the House. Returning Members of Parliament can testify to how he understood their concerns and worked tirelessly to improve MPs’ welfare.
