Amazing day at yesterday! 🌞

It’s incredibly humbling meeting the people who are following the label and buying our records regularly. It’s still completely surreal and without your continued support we wouldn’t be able to keep doing what we do. So, thank you!

Lovely to connect with all the other indie labels out there as well, who continue to put out and celebrate fantastic music. Special mentioned to and everyone else we managed to catch up with ❤️❤️

Miles Away are proud to introduce a brand-new, fresh out the bag, never before released piece of music to our catalogue.

In September 2024, DM’d us with a collection of instrumental covers he had created. Immediately drawn in, we loved both the musical approach to these covers and the fact he tastefully selected these tracks to cover. Following up, we asked Rob, an accomplished musician, if he had any original compositions in a similar style.

The result is “MONSTRO”, six instrumental slabs of jazz-funk heat! Made in Sheffield, listeners can expect spacey synths, silky electric pianos, and irresistible hooks. Think BADBADNOTGOOD meets Mildlife with a side plate of Herbie Hancock. From the kick-your-door-down energy of “Callisto Disco” to the slow-burning allure of “Heartacher” and optimistic sunny day feel of “Cherryade” to the fully grown earworm synth lines of “Bouquet Garni”.

The collection features two cover versions: Michael Miglio’s “Never Gonna Let You Go” and Rupa’s “Ayee Morshume Be-Reham Duniya.” Both are rare early-80s gems, wonderfully reimagined by Rob.

“MONSTRO” will be officially released on May 16th, 2025, with the track “Never Gonna Let You Go” now available as the first single. To celebrate the release of “MONSTRO”, Rob and his band will perform a special one-off show at in Sheffield on the May 16th. Tickets available now!

MUSIC MAKES ME HIGH 🙌🎵

A sentiment we can fully relate to! “Music Makes Me High” is the opening track on Salty Miller’s album 𝒜𝓁𝒷𝓊𝓂 #𝟣. A crossover-soul gem, the track sets the tone for an album that goes beyond the Beach Music conventions, drifting into the worlds of soul, r&b and jazz. Preview above! ☝️👆

Miles Away are proud to present the vinyl reissue of Salty Miller’s beach music gem, entitled “Album #1”

As sampled by

Originally released in 1980 in very limited quantities, under the unwieldy Beach Music Records of the Carolinas, the album blends soul, disco, and mid-tempo steppers. All perfectly suited to a day at the beach 🏖️🌊

Dreamt up after Miller had stepped away from the music industry, only to return years later, driven by a mix of disposable income and lingering creative regret. He assembling a cast of renowned musicians, including members of the legendary Beach Music combo The Embers and over the course of a decade recorded this album.

Steeped in local influences, oceanic soundscapes, and emotive string arrangements, Album #1 serves as both a love letter to Beach Music’s golden years and an outlier that pushed beyond its conventions. While many tracks celebrate the nostalgic Beach Music themes of love and joy, others take on a stormier, more introspective tone—offering a rare departure from the genre’s traditionally sun-soaked spirit.

Pressed on black vinyl, the package comes with a 2 page insert housing an exclusive liner notes and photos. Mastered by .

Wow wow wow!! These parties at just keep getting better and better! Overwhelmed with the positive feedback both on the night and since. Incredible to see people seriously getting down from 10:30 to close! 🪩🕺💃

Couldn’t have asked for two better djs to come on this Latin music ride with us. and brought impeccable selections throughout. Great flow, great chemistry. Thank you!

We went from breezy bossa nova to shearing salsa to pumping Latin house and back again. b2b2b all night and boy what a journey. There’s a recording coming soon!

We’re working hard on a bunch of fantastic new releases here at Miles Away towers 🏢. Always trying to strike a balance between regularly releasing quality music and not rushing things through. Spending the time getting the details right is so important ✍️📝

Tonight we’re on Soho Radio! ⚡️⚡️

And…. we welcome DJ and party host onto the Miles Away Broadcast for the first time. Alongside & Seb runs the fantastic party .brum in Brum. A psychedelic outernational community led party with a killer soundsystem to boot 🪩🥾🔊

After bumping into him at last years We Out Here he’s been someone we’ve been tuned into for a little while and we’re delighted to welcome him into the show to contribute a mix. He’s delivered us with an hours mix which he described as “one foot on the dance floor”. It’s a killer mix!

I’ll be spinning some select new and old records beforehand. So tune in and drop out!

Miles Away presents a Latin Music Special!!! 💃🕺⚡️

We’re kicking off the label parties this year with a special one—a full celebration of Latin music! Our love for Latin-influenced sounds runs deep, so it feels right to dedicate an entire night to the rhythms of Latin America

We’ve invited two incredible guest DJs with deep knowledge and passion for these genres along for the ride! 🏎️🏎️

First, we welcome all-round-good-positive-energy-person . Roberta co-producer of the Grammy-nominated album If You Will by Brazilian great . Her first album in over 15 years. And, alongside , worked closely with both Flora and the legendary .moreira.54, in curating the essential compilation “Airto & Flora - A Celebration: 60 Years - Sounds, Dreams & Other Stories” released on in 2023. A great DJ with bags of latin rhythms that will have your hips moving long into the night 🪩🪩🌶️🌶️

Next up, we have , a DJ and record collector with 30 years of experience digging deep across genres like Boogie, Disco, Electrofunk, Reggae, Funk, Jazz, Latin, House, and Garage. For our night, he’ll be diving into the Latin gems in his collection—an area of his collection he admits he doesn’t get enough chance to play. We can wait to see what Chris pulls from his bag on the night! 💰🎶🎧
