Armed Forces Day - Scarborough
Schedule of Events
11:00 AM – Opening remarks by the Scarborough Town Crier
11:05 AM – Performance by Norwegian Marching Bands
12:00 PM – RAF Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 Air Show
12:10 PM – Arrival of Scarborough standards in the formal area. Councillor George Jabbour, Chairman of North Yorkshire Council, will review the standards.
12:15 PM – Official ceremony begins. The Town Crier announces the opening of the event, followed by a march of the Yorkshire Volunteers Band into the formal area. A warm welcome from the Chairman of North Yorkshire Council and a performance by the Yorkshire Volunteers Band. Awards presented by Brigadier David Colthup CBE. The standards and band march off, marking the official start of the event.
12:45 PM – Display by the 152 City of Hull Royal Air Force Cadets showcasing their banner drill.
1:00 PM – Tiger Moth air display performance.
1:15 PM – Continuity drill demonstration by the Scarborough Sea Cadets.
2:00 PM – Aerobatic show by The Starlings.
3:00 PM – Jet-powered performance featuring Richard Goodwin with the Pitts Special.
3:15 PM – Performance by the Scarborough Sea Cadet Band.
3:40 PM – Tribute flight featuring the Battle of Britain aircraft – Spitfire and Hurricane.
3:55 PM – Musical performance by the East Riding Pipe Band.
4:20 PM – Parade featuring standards, veterans, and cadets steps off, led by the Queen’s Own Yeomanry and the Yorkshire Volunteers Band.
4:30 PM – Overview of the parade at the formal area. The Parade Marshal will invite the Reviewing Officer, Brigadier David Colthup CBE, along with VIPs, to provide a review of the parade. Closing remarks by Brigadier David Colthup CBE, followed by prayers and blessings from Reverend Joe Kinsella.
4:45 PM – Conclusion of the ceremonies. Exhortation by Matthew O’Brien, Chairman of the Royal British Legion. Sunset ceremony including the Yorkshire Volunteers Band. The Scarborough Sea Cadets will lower the Armed Forces flag and present it to Brigadier David Colthup CBE. The Yorkshire Volunteers Band will perform, culminating in the National Anthem. Cheers for HM Armed Forces led by the Scarborough Town Crier.
4:55 PM – The parade concludes and marches off.
5:00 PM – Event wraps up.

Naval Warfare Show - Armed Forces Day Special
Join us on Saturday, June 28, at Peasholm Park for an exciting Armed Forces Day special! Watch as 20-foot replica warships engage in a thrilling battle on the lake, featuring explosions and sound effects.

This spectacular event celebrates naval history and honors those who serve. North Yorkshire Council will be photographing and filming; please inform a team member if you prefer not to be included.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome at Scarborough Armed Forces Day. Please keep your dog leashed and clean up after them to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Let’s make it a great day for everyone—two-legged and four-legged alike!
