In May I experienced, for the first and hopefully last time, a bout of acute bronchitis. It was the nastiest thing I have ever had, and I had most of the ‘childhood’ diseases before the…

A quick update on the state of play and progress on Anthology 25.

Okay. First of all, I am still alive and Leg Iron Books is still going. It’s going a lot more slowly than most authors might expect because it’s a tiny, tiny publisher that has suddenly…

There is a lot going on here. Ian Caswell's book will soon be ready and Anthology 25 is in process. If you have submitted and not yet had a response, don't despair. As with the last anthology, the submissions are far higher than we are used to and responses are likely to be slow. The deadline, April 30th, is probably going to be a serious cutoff this time.

Still, most of the submitted stories are excellent and you'll hear whether you're in very soon. Since there is a limit on submissions (with the exception of the editors, who don't get paid for our stories) a refusal is not an indictment on your skills, more a reflection on our limited finances. Still, with around 20 authors so far, we are well within manageable levels.

Responses, and edits, will start to come out in the next few days. Author contracts, where applicable, will be sent out at the end of April and payments will come after the contracts are completed.

It looks like a mid May publication date. All authors will be notified when the book is available.

The Twenty-Fifth Underdog Anthology is now open for submissions until April 30th.

The Twenty-Fifth Underdog Anthology is now open for submissions until April 30th, 2025. We are aiming for publication mid to late May this year. This anthology, originally the Easter anthology, is now the ‘any genre’ one. Anything from romance to … Continue reading →

A long overdue update...

It’s been a while so there’s some catching up to do. First of all, we have gained one author and lost another. Stephen Clothier joins our author list with his first novel, ‘Dreamstalker‘. It’s a well researched tale of ghosts, … Continue reading →

New from Leg Iron Books. Next up is likely to be the deadline for the Spring/Summer any-genre anthology. Which might be after the next novel if we're quick enough ;)

Children have nightmares. That’s nothing unusual. However, seven-year-old Michael’s dreams are so intense that his parents realize that their son’s case is unique. An escalating number of disturbing occurrences lead them to seek help from a medium, only to find … Continue reading →

Amazon issues are resolved and the Halloween anthology is now available. Late, unfortunately, but it's done at last.

Amazon issues are resolved and the Halloween anthology is now available. Late, unfortunately, but it's done at last.

The biggest Underdog Anthology yet! Thirty-nine spooky tales including many from new authors (well, new to Leg Iron Books, they all have impressive pedigrees) Jane Nightshade, Stephen Johnson, L.N. Hunter, Jim Mountfield, Bill Diamond, Gary Thomson, Greg Patrick, Jason Battle, Fay Jekyll, Austin ...

There has been an issue with the Halloween anthology. Amazon seems to think it contains pirated content. Quite how they found a match for a book containing 39 stories from 37 authors is really something strange.
So there is a further delay in putting this book to bed. I have responded to Amazon to ask for more details, rather than send them all the contract responses which they really wouldn't thank me for.
Please be paitent while I sort this mess out.

The Halloween anthology is running very close to the wire this time, because there were an unexpectedly massive number of stories. It's called 'Monster', partly because there are monster stories, and partly because it'll be a monster of a book. Fortunately we had a real artist prepare the cover image. It'll be a shame to add text to it...

The Halloween anthology is now closed to submissions. It's had many more stories submitted than any previous anthology so it's slow going to get through them all! A lot of new authors in this one, and it's going to be a monster of a book.
