Whilst sat in a fine local eatery the room rang with a chorus of the national alert, a few minutes later a couple of other phones went off. The final phone went off about 12 minutes after the first.

I assume the alert swamps the local network and the local/national provider keeps retrying until the message is received by the phone or times out. Loss of connectivity, poor connectivity or overwhelmed bandwidth would cause the delay.

I wonder what the spike in traffic is like (if at all given how small the message is).

Hopefully all the candidates for the town council election will attend tomorrow’s NPTC meeting. Would be good to see if they have anything to contribute during the meeting’s open public time. Might also be a good opportunity to meet and chat with the candidates once the meeting is finished.

6 candidates, 2 seats. Who are they and how will they represent the electorate?

Also, don't forget to save the date - make sure you vote in the NPTC election on 30 July 2026 at North Petherton Community Centre
