After a poor first-half performance, Shaq Forde, Bobby Kamwa, and Fabrizio Cavegn were taken off at the break, and the manager said that all three "have to turn up when it matters."

He added that the Gas need to "rethink our strategy when we go away from home," following two defeats in three games on the road so far this season.

Discussing the off-the-ball incident which saw Tommy Leigh given a straight red card, Steve Evans added: "I just listened to the staff - it was a coming together. I think some of the staff were saying, they can understand why the referee's given a red card.

"But, listen, I'm not making the referee an excuse here today, but he was pretty abysmal, wasn't he? As a referee.

"So we're not going to blame him. But, wow, I'd love those decisions at The Mem."

"The first goal was as simple as a basic goal as they could score. It's just a simple long ball up to Cook, a flick-on, and Riley Harbottle should clear his lines, shouldn't he?

"The second goal is a fantastic goal from the players' point of view; it's a great strike, but we've got no one. He's probably travelled 25 yards with the ball before he strikes it, which is unacceptable.

"Second half, we just tried to go with more physicality, more of a presence, because we had zero in the first-half. That didn't work, either, because our quality up to those two was poor."
