Well, look at that! A Chemikal 1-2 of and at the top of this year’s Christmas Party bill, like a star atop the tree and eh a star that has fallen off the top a bit and is sitting on a slightly lower branch. Maybe it’s caught in the lights or something. What an all-round stellar line-up though. Writing copy for social media posts is a piece of cake, why do you ask? Tickets are on sale right now and you should get yours while it’s still sunny and uncomfortably warm outside.

S***s of Trust play The Hug and Pint this week in Glasgow. Did you get your tickets before they sold out? Here’s a pic illustrating how steeped they are in Chemikal lore - they toured with The Delgados and our Malc (pictured outside the famous, and sadly gone, Double Door in Chicago) and their cracking debut album ‘We Are All S***s of Trust’ was recorded at Chem19 Recording Studio, produced by The Chemikal Janny and released on…Chemikal Underground in April 2004. They’ll be playing in full THIS SATURDAY 19TH JULY.

Today marks the 29th anniversary of us releasing the 538 EP by Cha Cha Cohen. We signed them to Chemikal so early on, that this EP bagged the catalogue number CHEM005, meaning they were the third band after and .the.band to release on the label. You may notice that we’ve not accompanied this with audio. That’s because you can’t get it on those ruinous streaming sites. You can treat yourself to a copy over on our website. And you should. It is marvellous.

Hello! It’s again. This month we delved into the archive and come up with Holy Mountain’s 2014 vinyl album ‘Ancient Astronauts’. Think of adding a pinch of Sun Ra attitude and a splash of Deep Purple-flavoured keyboards to the trio’s signature gumbo of Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix and Iron Monkey, Ancient Astronauts is a quantum leap on from debut mini-album Earth Measures.

If that isn’t enough to entice you then we have included the 7” single ‘Luftwizard’. The 7” was limited to 500 copies and the b-side has an epic 7+ minute cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’. We strongly recommend you bag yourself this LP & 7” combo!

Broken Chanter are heading out to do three rescheduled shows this week in ABERDEEN, IRVINE, and STIRLING. This’ll be the last time to catch David and band for a while and, having seen them at Cottiers for Celtic Connections with this line-up at the end of January, it’s not something you’ll want to miss. Also, Saturday marks one year since we had the pleasure and privilege of releasing ‘Chorus Of Doubt’, the third, SAY Award Longlisted, BC album. Get yourself along to a show. Do it.

It is once again. Today, we’ve delved into ✨The Chemikal Vault✨ and selected the last remaining copies on vinyl of our very own Alun’s solo work - versions nom de plume and birth certificate. Treat yourself to a copy of his excellent eponymous outing as Lord Cut-Glass, and/or his spectral and emotive score for Battle Mountain: a film documenting the incredible exploits of maverick Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree.

Thirty years ago today copies of ‘Monica Webster’ started to fly out of a small kitchen on Cartside Street in Glasgow, Scotland. This was the debut single of a fresh-faced new band, The Delgados, and the maiden release of Chemikal Underground, a brand new independent record label. Three decades, many seminal LPs, and a multitude of hangovers later, it seems only right to mark this landmark milestone with a few bits and bobs over the next 12 months. Keep your eyes peeled (sign up to our mailing list) for announcements over the coming weeks…

David is bringing his band to as part of this year’s on 29 January. Those who caught the full band shows last year will know what an extremely good night awaits, so do not delay in getting your tickets. Following that, they’re off over to the island of Ireland for gigs in Waterford, , Belfast, and Dundalk. The perfect helping hands to deal with the fact that February stubbornly follows the month of January, yet again.
