Cascade 🏮

- A dynamic pendant light inspired by Kengai bonsai trees where branches of a tree are trained to grow downwards
- Kengai is the Japanese word for cascade
- Made from locally sourced wood, kozo, paper and rattan
- Kawabi is a New York based studio practice of Aaron and Irisa Na-Chan Kawabi. Their work is inspired by their spiritual and aesthetic connection to the East.

Illuminated drones & iconic landmarks 🏛️

- This project uses drone technology to imagine what famous buildings would look like if restored or finished
- The Colosseum in Rome and Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona are among the life-size artworks completed so far
- When Notre Dam burnt down, Studio Drift started to think about rebuilding it with light to show the world what architecture looked like in the past
- The technology can also be used to help architects visualise the impact a new building may have on a cityscape

Luminous Books 📚

- 24 ultra-thin wooden sheets are set into milled channels allowing the light to softly scatter through the grain
- The body of the lamp glows whilst the LED lamp head provides directional light

- Blending craft and technology with touch sensitive metallic stitching that acts as a switch for adjusting light levels
- Made using a coiled rope technique, a process of stitching rope together in a spiral pattern to create vessels forms
- 90% of the materials are sourced from apparel scraps and recycled plastics

- Five stacked levels create a striking silhouette
- Crafted from untreated oak and topped with a hand-cut Japanese washi paper diffuser, the lamp emits a warm glow

Entracte 🕯️⏰

- Inspired by candlelit theatre performances dating back centuries, when the length of each act was dictated by the lifespan of the candles that illuminated the stage
- 'Entracte' refers to the interval in the middle of the theatre performance when the candles were replaced
- The sphere of light can be positioned at any height in the stem, over time, the sphere descends before finally fading away inside the base
- Positioning the sphere at the highest point provides 3 hours of light
- Entracte aims to spatialize time. Designer and architect Mathilde Piel also created a painting of the lamp, featured in the final slide

- A folding mechanism combined with digital lighting control creates an intuitive user experience
- Moodable was a student project by Alissa Wolter in 2019 who studied Product and Interaction Design at the Kunsthochschule Berlin
