WORK-LIFE BALANCE QUESTION: DID YOU DO ANYTHING COMPLETELY USELESS TODAY? 😂
I hope so.
Something with:
No outcome.
No measurable benefit.
No personal-development opportunity.
No monetisation strategy.
No certificate at the end.
😂
Just something you enjoyed.
Because we’ve become remarkably good at turning life into another performance metric.
Go for a walk?
How many steps?
Start a hobby?
Could you sell it?
Read?
How many books this year?
Exercise?
Track it.
Rest?
Well, obviously we’re “recharging so we can be more productive.”
👀
What if sometimes you weren’t recharging for anything?
What if you were simply tired?
What if the walk was beautiful?
What if you painted something badly?
What if you watched three episodes of something ridiculous?
What if you sat talking to somebody you love for two hours and achieved precisely nothing?
That’s not time wasted.
That’s the life all the productivity was supposed to make room for.
Work-life balance isn’t about perfectly organising every hour.
It’s remembering that life has value even when nothing is being achieved.
I’ve spent much of my working life thinking about work and life - and one belief underneath all of it has remained remarkably simple:
We are born to LIVE.
Work matters.
Purpose matters.
Doing things we’re proud of matters.
But so do laughter, people, places, experiences, silliness, rest and completely pointless Saturday afternoons.
💙
So please tell me:
👇 What’s something wonderfully “unproductive” you did today?
