In February, I’d never done a deadlift in my LIFE and 30kg felt HEAVY 😭
I already had lifting experience (and knew my way around an RDL 😂), but deadlifts were completely new to me. I was learning the movement, figuring out my technique and genuinely had no idea how much I was going to fall in love with getting stronger.
Since then, I’ve just kept showing up. Lifting heavier on the weeks my body feels capable of it, working on my technique and pushing myself when I can, but also learning to give myself grace during my luteal/PMDD weeks when sometimes simply getting myself to the gym is enough.
And I think that’s actually been one of the biggest lessons of this whole journey. Progress doesn’t require me to be at 100% every single week. I can have weeks where I feel ridiculously strong and weeks where I need to pull it back, and I’m STILL moving forward.
30kg became 40kg, then 47.5kg, 60kg, 65kg and now 72.5KG 🥹💪🏼
We’re heading into September now and obviously I’ve decided I need another slightly unhinged goal 😂
I want a 100KG deadlift by New Year’s Eve.
That’s another 27.5kg in four months 👀
Can I do it?! 🏋🏻♀️
