Call me local woman I agree🤭😁how do you like your beans? For me I mostly use pap(akamu/ogí) or correct soured garri from home, but because the weather 🌦️ is too cold 🥶 I don’t want to soak the garri so I just sprinkle it on top my beans 🫘 😅 yay or nay?

✨ THE GIRL WHO ONLY APPEARS IN DECEMBER — PART 10 ✨

The slam of every door echoed through the flat like thunder shaking the walls, rattling the windows, trapping the air in my lungs.

The girl didn’t move.

She just stood there… staring at me with those dark, glassy eyes that didn’t blink… didn’t soften… didn’t feel human.

“Why did you leave me?” she asked again, her voice small but echoing like it came from every corner of the room.

My back hit the wall.
“I—I don’t remember leaving anyone,” I whispered.

The girl tilted her head, the same slow unnatural tilt from the video, the same one that made my skin crawl.

“You forgot,” she said. “But I didn’t.”

Suddenly the temperature dropped so sharply that my breath turned into clouds.
The lights flickered once… twice… then held.

The girl lifted her hand and pointed toward the closed bedroom door.

“Open it.”

My entire body tensed.
“No,” I whispered. “Why? What’s in there?”

She didn’t blink.

“You left something behind.”

The door to the bedroom creaked softly just a millimetre even though I hadn’t touched it.

My phone buzzed in my hand again.

Another message.

A single sentence:

“Don’t let her open it first.”

My blood ran cold.

Because the message wasn’t from her.

It was from an unknown number.
A different one.
Different tone.
Different energy.

I looked up.

The girl was still pointing but now a faint, eerie smile had begun to stretch across her face.

And the bedroom door creaked open another inch… then another…

Something inside the room shifted.

Not footsteps.
Not breathing.

Something heavier.

Like someone… or something… was waiting.

The girl stepped closer to me and whispered:

“If you open it, you’ll remember.”

The bedroom door slowly swung wider.

Darkness poured out like smoke.

And in that darkness…

Something moved.

There’s an adage in Yoruba that says “ajúmóbí ò kan tàanú afí èní ori baà ràn síní”

Meaning… “Being related by blood does not guarantee pity or help; it is the person whom God/destiny sends to you that will favor you".

So when someone gifts you with anything no matter how little it is learn to be appreciative and not feel self entitled 👌

Life is so private that nobody noticed I no longer eat fufu as my light breakfast but now I take yoghurt or tea and snack 🥲😜

✨ THE GIRL WHO ONLY APPEARS IN DECEMBER — PART 9 ✨

Darkness swallowed the hallway thick, suffocating, absolute.

I stood completely still, afraid even to breathe.

Then I heard it.

Footsteps.

Soft, dragging, and coming toward me.

I stumbled back into the living room, hands searching blindly for a switch, anything but the lights refused to come on.

My phone screen lit up the floor where it had fallen.
A new message appeared on it, glowing in the dark.

“Don’t run. You always run.”

My chest tightened.

Another message came before I could react:

“Let me show you.”

Show me what?

My phone buzzed again but this time, it wasn’t a text.

It was a video.

A video I apparently recorded… last December.

My trembling thumb tapped it.

The screen filled with shaky footage. I was crying… saying something about “the girl at the road,” saying she needed help, saying I couldn’t just leave her there in the cold.

Then the camera turned.

A small girl stood on the roadside.
Pale skin.
Bare feet.
Soaking wet.

She tilted her head and whispered:

“Take me home.”

The video cut to black.

My living room suddenly felt colder. My breath came out in fog.

Then, behind me, a tiny voice whispered:

“You promised.”

I turned around slowly…

And standing at the edge of the hallway was the same small girl from the video.

Same pale face.
Same dripping hair.
Same dark eyes.

She stepped forward.

And every door in the apartment slammed shut at once.
