Had an amazing evening last Friday at Andertons listening to a fascinating talk from Ola Strandberg and some epic playing from Connor Kaminski as well as having the opportunity to play some Strandberg Guitars for the first time! Beautiful instruments that I absolutely loved playing once I’d settled in a bit! Hopefully I’ll be able to play another in the future.

This is the final instalment of our little lounge cover of George Michael‘s Last Christmas! and I had no idea what was going to happen when we fairly arbitrarily just picked one of the many famous Christmas songs to mess around with but we had great fun doing so as we always do. I think the song ended up feeling very comfortable in this style.

A massive thank you to for the wonderful shuffle alongside creativity and further percussion.

This is one of my favourite songs and the last thing I ever recorded in my old music room back at Christmas 2021 before starting to build the studio.
It’s been newly mixed in the studio and sounds a lot better for it!

MKM studios founder is Mathew Kerwick a producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist who caught the bug for studio work when recording for the Status Quo as a background singer in 2011. 🎼🎤

He has spent the decade since writing and recording his own music as well as producing that of others, playing all manner of contemporary pop/rock instruments as well teaching himself to play various horns, classical strings and single-reed instruments. He most recently studied composition, classical composition, acousmatic music, popular music, film music and production at the University of Birmingham achieving various first class classifications alongside receiving classical and jazz guitar tuition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. 🎸🎷

Trying to keep on top of maintaining the studio is a constant effort, as is trying to find new ways to make the best of any given session, but it’s so wonderful to feel and hear the results of that effort. This was some time spent tidying up the cabling in the live room alongside adjusting the acoustic treatment around the drums having just retuned them.

The audio is an instrumental demo of a song I’m currently writing in the studio (working title: crime’s saviour). Engineering is a great passion of mine but it’s wonderful to get back to writing and producing music too as that’s what started this whole journey.
