The Independent reports: Israel’s government has approved a Gaza peace plan for the release of all hostages from Hamas, in a move set to end the two-year-long conflict.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced the approval after both a security cabinet meeting and a government minister’s briefing.

It comes as a senior US administration official shared Donald Trump’s "vision” of Gaza’s future, which would have a local police force but would not be allowed “to do a military buildup. All the terror infrastructure is destroyed, and Gaza could be a functioning economy."

An Israeli government spokesperson said that a ceasefire on the war-torn strip would go into force within 24 hours of the government meeting.

At this point, the Israeli military will withdraw to a smaller area of Gaza, and the 72-hour time window for the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners will begin.

Trump announced at a cabinet meeting, “We secured the release of all of the remaining hostages, and they should be released on Monday or Tuesday. Getting them is a complicated process. I'd rather not tell you what they have to do to get them.”

According to sky news, French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu resigned on Monday, less than a month after his appointment, plunging President Emmanuel Macron’s already fragile Government into fresh uncertainty.

Macron, who vowed to unite France, may try to appoint another premier, but analysts say any new government will face the same gridlock.

Some are calling for the dissolution of parliament and fresh elections — a move that could strengthen the far right.

It is another chip in Macron’s already waning authority, and could have serious ramifications for the UK.

Effectively a lame duck president with 18 months left in his term of office, Macron’s rash gamble to dissolve the National Assembly last June merely accelerated turmoil in France’s divided politics.

It also matters beyond Paris. The Franco-German partnership is the engine of European integration, and when it comes to defence, only Britain has an equivalent military capability within Europe.

London and Paris have in recent years drawn closer on defence. Macron is the co-leader, with Keir Starmer, of the informal alliance behind Ukraine.

If political paralysis in Paris delays the promised rise in French military spending, that will complicate the Anglo-French bargain that underpins European security at a time of Russian aggression and doubts about Washington’s commitment.

Accoding to The Guardian, Prince William has said “change is on my agenda – change for the good” when he becomes king.

In one of his most personal interviews yet, the Prince of Wales set out his approach to the monarchy.

“I want to question things more,” he told Eugene Levy at Windsor Castle in an interview for the actor’s Apple TV+ series, The Reluctant Traveler.

William said: “I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job that actually does impact people’s lives for the better.”

His eldest son, Prince George, who celebrated his 12th birthday in July, will one day succeed him as king.

His other son, Prince Louis, is seven and his daughter, Princess Charlotte, is 10.

William said his children did not have mobile phones. And he appeared to suggest that he wanted to ensure they did not face a repeat of “practices” he and his brother, the Duke of Sussex, had faced when younger – a possible reference to intrusive press scrutiny that also plagued their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

William said of the “insatiable” media he experienced growing up: “They wanted every bit of detail they could absorb, and they were in everything, literally everywhere. They would know things, they’d be everywhere.

“And if you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family.”

With regard to his change agenda, William said: “I embrace that and I enjoy that change – I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical change, but changes that I think that need to happen.”

He added: “I think it’s very important that tradition stays, and tradition has a huge part in all of this. But, there’s also points where you look at tradition and go: ‘Is that still fit for purpose today? Is that still the right thing to do? Are we still doing and having the most impact we could be having?’”

“And then

The Guardian report today that, Paul Ovenden quit as the prime minister’s director of political strategy.
The crisis engulfing Keir Starmer has deepened on the eve of Donald Trump’s visit to the UK after the resignation of a third senior ally in two weeks raised further questions about the stability of his government.

Paul Ovenden quit as the prime minister’s director of political strategy after the publication of old messages in which Ovenden relayed lewd jokes made at a party about the Labour MP Diane Abbott.

His resignation comes after a bruising two weeks in which Starmer has overseen the departures of both his deputy prime minister, Angela Rayner, and his US ambassador, Peter Mandelson.

Starmer’s internal critics also say he has failed to condemn the far-right protest in London over the weekend, as well as the people who organised it, strongly enough.

The prime minister hit back saying there could be “no surrender” to racism and violence, which several cabinet members including Wes Streeting have echoed.

But tensions over the march have raised fears among many Labour MPs about whether the government is “meeting the moment”, which some have termed a “progressive emergency”.

Starmer spent Monday night in the Commons, voting on the workers’ rights bill, in a move which some in his party interpreted as a move to reassure his fractious MPs.

The turmoil surrounding his leadership has prompted Labour MPs to begin talking openly about the prospect of replacing him before the next election, and possibly even in the next few months.

He was hoping to use the US president’s state visit, which begins on Tuesday, as a platform to refocus attention on his economic and foreign policy agenda.

Instead Trump will arrive to meet a beleaguered prime minister who is under criticism from both the right and the left of the party. Allies of alternative leaders are talking up their candidates’ prospects of rescuing the government’s standing.

Owen Cooper becomes youngest ever male Emmy winner for breakout Adolescence role

According to MSN daily Adolescence star Owen Cooper has become the youngest male actor to win an Emmy, earning the award for his role in the British Netflix drama.

Cooper, who had already made history as the youngest person ever nominated for supporting actor in a limited series, told the audience at the 77th Emmy Awards that he was “nothing” just three years ago.

“Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn’t expect to be even in the United States, never mind here,” the English actor said in his acceptance speech.

But I think tonight proves that if you listen and you focus and you step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life.”

Hollywood stars arrived at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night for the ceremony, hosted by US comedian Nate Bargatze.

“It says my name on the statue, but it really belongs to all of the people who worked on the show,” Cooper said.

Co-stars Erin Doherty won best supporting actress in a limited series, dedicating the award to her older sister and Stephen Graham picked up the award for lead actor in a limited series.

“I’m just a mixed-race kid from a block of flats in a place called Kirkby,” Graham told the audience.

“So, for me to be here today in front of my peers and to be acknowledged by you is the utmost humbling thing I could ever imagine in my life, and it shows you that any dream is possible.”

Severance was nominated 27 times, while crime drama mini-series The Penguin had 24 nominations and Adolescence received 13.

The British drama, which dominated Netflix’s most-watched list earlier this year, centres on the story of a 13-year-old boy arrested for the murder of a classmate.

Adolescence director Philip Barantini took home the Emmy for outstanding directing for a limited or anthology series or movie, while writers Jack Thorne and lead actor Graham won for outstanding writing in the same category.

“To Netflix, thank you for trusting us with this mad idea,” Barantini said while accepting his award.
