I've been her.

The café owner opening before sunrise.

The chip shop worker on a busy Friday night.

The woman on the till during Christmas chaos.

The voice on the phone when your cooker broke down in the coldest month.

The person booking a busker’s first gig and hearing their excitement.

The woman who saw your eyes light up choosing your family car at the local Toyota dealership.

The one running programmes, hiring, and training people across the county, managing operations and clients, and that’s the experience I now bring to helping people start their own businesses.

The one who got made redundant, and decided to build her own security instead of waiting for someone else to give it.

None of it was linear.
All of it mattered.

🤝Tip: If you’re thinking about starting your own business, your path doesn’t have to be straight. Trust your journey...

New year, same me, just slightly more organised (allegedly) ✨

This year taught me that the best ideas don’t arrive fully formed.
They arrive scruffy, half-baked, and needing to be bounced back and forth about 37 times before they’re ready for the world.

I’m heading into the new year excited, hopeful, and armed with a notebook full of ideas and at least three pens that definitely don’t work. A book idea, or 4. A new product to market, or 2.

Here’s to growth, bravery, and trusting the process, even when it involves mild panic and a lot of coffee ☕🥂

To my clients, past, present, and currently spiralling over font choices 🤍

Thank you for the 9pm phone calls to stop you jumping off a cliff because “your brand isn't branding”
For the Costa coffee meet-ups where we slurp drinks like it’s a witch’s potion we’ve spent hours perfecting ☕🧙‍♀️
For bouncing ideas back and forth for DAYS because sometimes the best ones just need a bit of nurturing (and reassurance).
You trust me with your businesses, your ideas, and occasionally your sanity, and I don’t take that lightly.

I bloody love what I do, and I’m grateful for every single one of you ✨

🎁Merry Christmas from me and the festive chaos 🎄

This year has been powered by caffeine, questionable sleep patterns, and ideas that started with
“what if…” and somehow became real things.

Christmas for me is part rest, part reflection, and part pretending I’m not thinking about next year already.

Thank you to everyone who’s supported, shared, booked, messaged, or cheered from the sidelines, you’ve genuinely made this year something special.

Now excuse me while I eat my body weight in chocolate and tell myself I’ll “start fresh in January” whilst looking at different outfits trying to reinvent myself 😘😂🙋‍♀️

A massive thank you to the businesses who’ve shown up for my boy 🤍

Austin is a home-educated kid learning entrepreneurship the best way possible, by talking to real people running real businesses.

If you’ve answered his questions, let him help, or just taken him seriously when he’s shown interest, thank you. That stuff matters.

If you cross paths with Austin and he asks something or offers to help… let him.
There’s no better education than the real world around us.

You’re helping raise the next generation, whether you realise it or not ✨

Proud mum moment incoming 🧁

This year, Austin has been in research mode, reviewing baked goods from local cafés (very important work), seeing what’s popular in different towns, and learning how businesses actually run.

He’s a baker himself, and I know, hand on heart, that he’ll own something one day.

This year was about curiosity and discovering what lights him up.
Next year, he’ll be attempting to set up a business of his choice.

Watching him learn through real experiences instead of textbooks has been incredible, and I can’t wait to see where it takes him.

Big dreams start small (usually covered in flour) 😂

11/12/2025

Today’s professional schedule:
– toddler meltdown
– client panic
– printer jam
– me pretending I’m calm
– me definitely not calm
– still somehow delivering work like I slept 8 hours and not… whatever that was.

Business owners with kids?
I empathise 😂

📩Got another email today inviting me to a networking event.
You know the ones, 40 people in a room, everyone pretending they’re thriving, and you come home with a fistful of business cards you will never look at again 👀

Here’s what actually works better:
Go get a hobby⛹️‍♀️
Seriously.

Join a class, pick up something new, go outside, speak to real humans who aren’t trying to “synergise” or “circle back”🥴

Because if you’re like me,
2 good client can pay your bills for the month.
Not forty people messaging you with:
“Let’s hop on a call, hun xx”
and not a single bite.

Networking is great in theory, until there's no food and the guest speaker is someone’s cousin talking about spreadsheets 😂
But meeting a client while I’m accidentally reliving my failed skateboard era?
Somehow lands every time 🤝

🎉 Freebie Friday: Old-School Marketing That Works 🚀

Everyone’s glued to their phones… so how do you actually get noticed? Go old-school.

📌 Think tangible:
Leaflets in the hand 📝
Handheld menus 🍔
Coupons clipped from paper ✂️

💡 Why it works:
People stop, look, and remember, in fact, studies show 75% of consumers are more likely to engage with ads that evoke nostalgia.

📌 Who can use this today:

A local baker 🍰 — a menu or recipe card in the bag = instant memory.

A freelance fitness instructor 🧘 — class schedule or voucher = trust & curiosity.

An alternative therapist 🌿 — a leaflet or voucher left at a local yoga studio = trust & curiosity.

Old-school marketing isn’t dead, it’s your shortcut out of the digital clutter. Make it fun, make it useful… and maybe even make them smile 😎

Some people wait for the perfect moment to start.
Others start with a sticky note and a dream.
Hint: The sticky note crew usually wins ✨

You don't need 100% of the answers to take action.
You need 10% and a bit of audacity... Which I provide daily 🫡

🎄 Christmas Tips for Small Businesses to Boost Sales🎄

1. If you have kids throw them out and start again you have no chance.
2. I'm quite obviously joking 😉but I'm glad you carried on reading 🤝

Big brands are rolling out advent giveaways, app competitions, daily freebies… it feels like everyone is doing something huge this month.
But here’s the truth: small businesses don’t need to compete with that level of noise.
Ok ok I hold my hands up there's a few advent comps I have my eye on 😂
But your strength at Christmas Time is connecting with your audience.
People are craving real stories, real humans, and brands that actually care.

Here’s your December tip to boost sales without a massive budget and :

✨ Show your personality.
Share a behind-the-scenes moment, your workspace chaos, or why you started. It makes customers feel part of your world.

✨ Offer value over gimmicks.
You don’t need a 24-day giveaway. One thoughtful offer, or a simple bundle, is enough when people trust YOU.

✨ Talk to your audience like friends.
Reply to comments, start conversations, check in. Small businesses thrive where big brands can’t, in genuine community.

✨ Stay consistent.
A few intentional posts go further than a constant stream of pressure-filled content.

This December, don’t try to be the loudest.
Be the warmest, the realest, and the most you.
That’s how small businesses shine at Christmas. ✨
