Get yer wrist bands!

We are very humbled and very proud to have these Dark Souls S.O.P.H.I.E bands made exclusively for our event.

With huge thanks to The Sophie Lancaster Foundation for this.

In red and black, the colours of the foundation and of Dark Souls, they have bats too and are £3. All proceeds go to the charity and they will be available at our next event on Saturday 1st November in Whitby. 🖤♥️

Got to see a few bands I been wanting to see along with some new ones I have now discovered at McGothicfox Promotions - Bats in the attic event.

Great venue with many faces I have meet at various events, gigs and even a wedding :)

A few acts really stood out for me:

Italian based dark wave band This Eternal Decay and check out Swedish Dark Side Cowboys who are also big supporters of The The Sophie Lancaster Foundation :). Along with the band I went to see, Swedish post punk/goth band Then Comes Silence who were defiantly worthy headliners.

Great to get top speak to some of the bands who have travelled from all over Europe and the UK.

On this day 18 years ago, Sophie Lancaster died after a brutal and unprovoked attack. She was just 20 years old.

Sophie was kind, intelligent and creative. She loved literature, alternative music and expressing herself through her identity.

She was attacked simply because of the way she looked. She never regained consciousness and died 13 days later, on 24 August 2007.

What happened to Sophie should never have happened. And it should never happen to anyone else.

Today we remember Sophie for who she was. Not just the victim of an horrific crime, but a young woman with a future, a voice and a right to live without fear.

We ask you to take a moment to think of Sophie. To think about the cost of hatred. To stand with all victims of hate crime. And to treat people with the kindness and respect that we all deserve.

Eighteen years gone. Never forgotten. 🖤

It’s 18 years ago today that the attack took place in Stubbylee Park, Bacup, that took Sophie’s life 13 days later. We send love to Sophie’s family and friends and all that love her. Sophie is not just a figurehead or a banner we march behind; she was a person who should be here with us today and we grieve her loss.

At Sophie’s murder trial, the attack was described as feral thuggery by His Honour Judge Anthony Russell QC. Many of us might stand out as different in our communities, but we all have the right to be who are and live in safety. We must stand together and unite against all hate and violence in our communities. If we don’t, it rebounds on us all.

We remember Sophie today and pledge our commitment to continue the work that Sylvia started: to Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere.
