I’ll be more or less off grid over the weekend.

It’s my brothers stag due, so I’ll be somewhere in the mountains of wales for the next few days.

If you’re getting in contact regarding guided walks, fossil preparation, or anything else, leave me a message and I’ll get back to you around Monday.

Have a good weekend 👌

After a busy few weeks of guided walks, it was finally time to do some proper collecting for myself! Finding collection worthy pieces is very hard these days, but every now and then, you get something quality.
Just like yesterday! 😁

Strolling along one of Whitbys many fossiliferous beaches, I came across a small, but very fresh cliff fall! Among the debris, was this stunning slab of articulated Crinoid.
An ancient Sea Lilly, from far too long ago to comprehend.

I can’t wait to prepare this absolute stunning block, and see what else is contained in the areas nothing is showing 🙌👌

Another quality successful guided walk today with a lovely family from the Netherlands. An absolute bucket load of fossils to take back home. Just goes to show, that even in the after weeks of the beaches being packed with avid fossil hunters, you can still find some top notch finds 👌Just like this perfectly popped Dactylioceras that Lucas here found!

As always, a quick psa on how wild the cliffs of Whitby are.
Around 8 or so years ago, all of this material came crashing down at a certain location. A fella I used to know had been observing the fractures in the cliff for quite some time. He was lucky enough to capture it when it happened. This fall ended up being VERY unproductive.
For the love of god, keep your kids away from them. You don’t want this tumbling down on yourself or them!!! ⚠️

A stunning Amaltheus I found a few years back! Who’s like to see this cleaned up 🤔?

Find of the day yesterday! I found this big chunk of Ichthyosaur humerus 👌. I’m hoping the fall that it came from still has the rest of it. Maybe even the paddle 👀. That’d be nice wouldn’t it 🤣. It always pays to be out first and early 😉

These ammonites are always a dream to prepare. They’re notoriously easily to split on the beach, or prep 👌. Dactylioceras Tenuicostatum are up there with some of my favourite ammonites from our coastline 🙌

Yesterday I found this stunning Lytoceras ammonite! Sometimes you just know something has high potential 👀
And oh boy was I right. A pin point centre, pyritisation, and some absolutely incredible suture patterns 🤩
After a couple hours of prep, the work was done! This one is definitely going on the self!
If you’d like to find out how I prepared it, go to my story and the link is there 🙏
