REALLY ENJOYING WRITING THIS. I AM 3 PARTS AHEAD OF WHAT'S PUBLISHED ONLINE SO FAR
' The fab fifties were absorbing my soul. I relished in the glow of the old school crooners, the big bands, the early rock and roll hits, the ballads and the 'pop groups' that were taking root. I was visually hypnotised as I watched the spinning 78's, and the flashing lights and meters on the desk. Without these chart shows, who else would excavate these ancient records, dust them off and play them on air? Who else would bother actually playing LIVE 78'S on the radio in 2020? Those mouldy oldies, brought back to life, played live, exactly as they were meant to be heard in 1955. Those black shellac circles that your Grandma had in her cupboard, those tunes bygone generations danced to, listened to, and loved to.
The world before the DJ. The empire of the Dance Hall, of chaperoned sons and daughters, poodle skirts, white cotton socks, and saddle shoes. The James Dean uniform. The preppy. The rocker. The greaser. The Teddy boys. The creepers. The drab monochrome society of the post war years had colourized, become 3d and youth orientated. Let's hit the coffee shop and play some 78's on the brightly illuminated juke box, and jump on the unstoppable train of music and fashion evolution. '
