Hereβs a guide to the Seven Falls walk in the Peak District, including how to get there, what to expect, and important tips.
π Location & route
β’ The waterfall series is along Arnfield Brook, starting near Arnfield Reservoir and the road at Crossgate Lane in/near Tintwistle (just north of Glossop).
β’ Typical distance: around 2.9 miles (β4.7 km) for the short loop.
β’ Difficulty: Moderate β there are some steep/muddy sections, and the terrain near the brook may require scrambling a bit.
π― Why itβs worth visiting
β’ Itβs a more hidden gem compared to many crowded spots in the Peak District: the series of cascades along Arnfield Brook make for a scenic, somewhat quieter waterfall walk.
β’ Great for photography, nature, and if weather and water allow β even wild-swimming in some of the pools.
β’ The moorland, stream, woodland and reservoir settings give a nice variety of scenery in a compact walk.
β’ Facilities: Minimal. There are none on the trail, so bring water and snacks.
β’ Wild swimming caution: Some pools are tempting, but depth and conditions vary (especially after dry spells).
β’ Respect the area: Leave no trace, stay on paths where possible, respect private land/ farming areas. Happy hiking ππΌ
