👏👏 A special morning at The Brick Community Stadium today as a new song and video to raise awareness of homelessness was recorded.

Twenty children from Marsh Green Primary School’s Year 5 choir sang their hearts out ❤️ along with members of Wigan Community Choir, students from Wigan & Leigh College, people from The Brick, Sunshine House, Daffodils Dreams , Wigan Youth Zone, Greenmount Projects, the Wigan Athletic Support Engagement Management Group and volunteer singers who just wanted to be part of it.

I got to chat with some of the children and their teacher — they were brilliant. Well done to every single one of them. 👏

The Brick is planning to share the video on World Homelessness Day tomorrow, keep your eye out for it.

A very quick catch up with Lisa, who is behind the Artisan Markets coming to the Cotton Works in Wigan this Sunday.

Really looking forward to seeing all the local traders! 😁

If you want to have a look what stalls are there, have a look at Wigan Artisan Market at The Cotton Works Cotton Works

Random question this evening.. and I know it's still quite a while away...but Boxing Night in Wigan.

I think it started in the 1980s when The Pier offered free entry to anyone in fancy dress, and just grew and grew to be the biggest night of the year for Wigan... EDIT to this.. just been sent this...

"The tradition started in the 1970s with fancy dress donned to raise money for good causes"

The outfits I've seen over the years have been brilliant.. one of my favourites was a Sheila's Wheels..pink cardboard car with three women in it..if any of you are reading this, I salute you! 😁👏👏

Need to start planning my outfit 😁👇

The first public event back at Wigan Pier has been revealed, and it will be on Halloween.

Last month Wigan Council said what used to be The Way We Were museum, now called Pier 4, is re-opening as a venue for culture, arts, live music, theatre, and events, with the first event in October, so here it is!

On Friday 31st October Blues Harvest will be there with support from The Jimi Henson Experience for a night of throwback tunes from films and TV shows. Fancy dress is encouraged 🎃👻

Tickets are £14.25 . Link in top comment.

The organisers of a new Artisan Market at the Cotton Works in Wigan have thanked Wigan Council for "their reconsideration so quickly" after licence for market was granted, just days after it was initially refused.

The market will be there this Sunday.

Last one on this, but this is really really special ❤️

Snow Graffiti has created something truly truly wonderful in his hometown of Ashton-in-Makerfield.

I know I keep banging on about this, but it's just brilliant!

The Titanic mural in Ashton-in-Makerfield. And Scott AKA Snow Graffiti is just fab, so much energy and passion for what he does, and so much pride! Another BRILLIANT Wiganer ❤️👏

He says this is his proudest piece, because it's in his hometown, he's even included his nan, grandad and auntie in it, also says it's not finished yet (that's why he's got the blurry pictures in the frames in the cafe).

So, if you're popping down to have a look, he might even be there touching it up 😁.

Honestly, I love it. And those four 'hidden' references to the Titanic film... (there are actually THREE visible in this photo 📸 👀)

Full story on the mural and its history in the top comment.

Can you spot the four hidden references to the Titanic film in this amazing new mural in Ashton-in-Makerfield? 👀🎥

A huge thank you to Scott AKA Snow Graffiti for giving up his Sunday morning to speak to me about the mural and fascinsting historical links between Ashton and Titanic.

What a talent ❤️

Big thanks again to Scott, and Andy.

"Hospice care is about so much more than what happens inside our building. Our teams are out in the community every day, helping people live well for as long as possible"

This week is Hospice Care Week 2025 and Wigan & Leigh Hospice is showing how their work goes way beyond what happens there, with Chief Executive Jo Carby continuing to ask the government to provide a fairer funding deal for hospices.

Full details in top comment (yes, I've got a website 😃)

Hope everyone's had a good weekend, and I've not forgotten! 🤣

My piece with Scott, aka Snow Graffiti and Andy, about this stunning Titanic mural in Ashton-in-Makerfield will be posted later.

I had a chat with both of them yesterday.. a very windy Sunday morning, and still LOADS of people out to see it. Scott spills the beans on the hidden details in the mural linked to the Titanic movie, family and business links, and how his work sparks conversations in the community, so keep your eyes peeled 👀.

It would've been posted last night, but there was the small matter of watching Wigan Warriors women beat St Helens to become Super League Champions 🎉🏆👏
