This now… when the only queue we loved was for the ice cream van.
No apps, no tracking — just ears tuned for the chimes and a mad dash with pocket money in hand.

when opening a tin was an Olympic sport.
Back before ring pulls, these were the tools that stood between you and your beans on toast. And somehow, Nan never struggled once.

This now… timeless design at its finest.
When it’s made right the first time, it never needs changing. The BIC pen. The safety pin. The bobby pin.
Still here. Still perfect. Still doing the job since… well, forever.

This now… was the original school run.
The lollipop lady didn’t just stop traffic — she kept generations safe with a smile, a firm stance, and a big round sign. Cold mornings, hand-holding, and crossing the road like royalty.

This now… was the Olympic final of your childhood.
The sack race — where dignity went out the window and faceplants were just part of the fun. Grass stains, belly laughs, and the pressure of the whole school watching you trip your way to glory (or disaster). No fancy gear, just an old sack and the will to win.

This now… was serious business.
One shaky hand, one stumble, and your egg was toast (well, probably wood or plastic — but still tragic). Sports Day wasn’t about medals, it was about pride, balance, and keeping your cool in front of the whole school and half the neighbourhood. No apps. No likes. Just grit and boiled-egg glory.

This now… was peak competition.
Wheelbarrow races, bean bags on heads, egg-and-spoon drama — and the loudest cheers came from mums in cardigans and dads in flat caps. No medals needed, just grass-stained knees, orange squash in plastic cups, and a packet of crisps at the end. Pure childhood joy.

This now… was part of the cinema experience.
You hadn’t lived until you heard the rustle of tubs and wooden spoons at the interval. The ice-cream lady in her crisp white uniform, weaving through the rows with that iconic tray — handing out choc ices, tubs of vanilla, and those little wooden paddles that never quite worked. Pure magic before the second half.

This now… was in every bathroom cupboard.
Before plastic packaging and peel-back wrappers, Band-Aids came in these iconic tins — clunky, charming, and oddly satisfying to open. You didn’t throw them away either… they ended up storing coins, buttons, or mystery bits Mum refused to part with.

“We actually thought this looked like a real fire…”
And to be fair — back then, it was the real deal. The glow, the gentle hum, the fake coal flickering like embers… it warmed up the whole room (and your Nan’s feet). No central heating, just one of these beauties, a thick pair of socks, and Countdown on the telly.
