Look out tuesday night

The full Harvest Moon lifts above the UK horizon at about 18:20 BST on 7 October. This is the first supermoon of 2025 and the brightest full Moon of the year so far. It follows a long gap since the last supermoon in November 2024.

The disc can appear up to 14% larger and around 30% brighter than an average full Moon when it coincides with perigee, the point where the Moon is nearest to Earth on its elliptical path.

Breaking News

Wokingham Road, Earley

Drivers and pedestrians are being advised to avoid the crossroads on Wokingham Road, near the Co-Op store in Earley, following a collision involving a cyclist and a car.

Emergency services, including Thames Valley Police and the Fire Service, are currently on scene and awaiting the arrival of South Central Ambulance Service.

It’s understood that the cyclist is receiving treatment at the scene and has been wrapped in a silver hypothermic blanket to maintain body temperature.

Part of the road is closed while emergency crews work, and motorists are urged to use alternative routes and take extra care if travelling through the area.

We’ll bring further updates as soon as more information becomes available, and we wish the injured cyclist a full and speedy recovery.

Police hunt for escaped prisoner believed to be in Tilehurst Reading.

Police are appealing for information after a man absconded from prison earlier this week.

Tesfa Clarke, 47, left HMP Sudbury at around 4.20am on Wednesday, October 29. He is currently serving a nine-and-a-half-year sentence for robbery, having been convicted in May 2021.

Thames Valley Police believe Clarke may now be in the Tilehurst area and are urging anyone who sees him not to approach, but to call 999 immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Thames Valley Police, quoting reference number [insert if available], or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
