A road-trip to the Isle of Skye 🚐🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We had so many reasons to not go on this trip.

It was the Easter holidays, so it was going to be busy. We only had a few days, and a storm was on its way.

However, we went anyway.

And what followed was a well earned adventure to a beautiful part of Scotland, exploring the misty isle in all sorts of weather, cloud, hail, winds and snow.

A proper adventure. And one we’re so glad we went on.

If you’re planning a trip to Skye soon and want some ideas of what to see and do, we filmed our adventure and just shared it on YouTube.

Glenbrittle and the Fairy Pools 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We kicked off our Isle of Skye road trip with a night and morning at Glenbrittle campsite.

This is a great little spot, nestled at the bottom of the Black Cuillins. Epic views from the van window, a great cafe on site, and a stormy black sand beach.

For the start of April the weather up in Skye wasn’t very Spring-like. But we still had a blast driving these beautiful roads, and hiking in hailstorms 🙃

Winter ❄️

It’s been a quiet start to the year over here at These Wild Journeys HQ.

Less adventuring, more slow-living by the coast in Scotland. We’ve had trips to see friends, lots of running for Jack, and we’ve enjoyed having a quieter pace of life.

But the seasons are turning. The days are getting longer. And maybe it’s time for a little road-trip adventure or two…

Here’s to warmer, sunnier evenings ahead ☀️

Postcards from Woolacombe 🫶

We swooped over to the North Devon coast last week for a slow week by the sea.

Woolacombe has a special place in our heart, as it’s the first beach Frank ever visited and the place where he learnt to play fetch. The rest, as they say, is history. Look how much fun he’s having in pic 3 😂

We took some walks along the beach, Jack ran a section of the scenic coastal path, and enjoyed plenty of hot drinks with this beautiful sea view.

All in all, it was a pretty good place to recharge and shake off the January Blues.

Postcards from a snowy, frosty Scotland ❄️

For two hermits who live in a van, Christmas with family and friends is great, but after a few weeks, we definitely need to recharge our social batteries.

So, with a free week before work we packed up Big P and headed up to Scotland. For this trip we had no real plans, no big itinerary, no plans to film for YouTube. Just quiet park-ups, great views, and plenty of walks 👌🏻

We found ourselves parked up and walking along parts of the West Highland Way, took the cable car to the top of Glencoe (and finally got a clear view!), enjoyed a frosty night by the Bridge of Orchy, and a snowy New Year’s park-up in Strathyre.

Oh and started training for his Ultra with some pretty epic runs (in case you haven’t heard 😉)

A pretty perfect way to spend the week before logging back on for work tomorrow.

2025 ✌️

We’re seeing out the year in much the same way we started it. In Scotland, in our home on wheels, surrounded by some beautiful views.

This year’s been a little slower than the ones before. No Europe road trips, slightly more work, and a conscious effort to save some money (for a big switch in 2026 👀..!)

But it hasn’t stopped us exploring Scotland, and we’re grateful to have spent most of the year up here.

It’s been the perfect place to slow down, soak up nature, and stay healthy.

Happy New Year everyone. We hope it’s a good one - and here’s to another adventurous trip around the sun. 🌍✨

Happy birthday to one of the UK’s most notorious passenger princesses 🚐👑

Another lap around the sun, and another year packed with wild roadtrips, hesitant mountain adventures (until the view wins you over), sandy beach days and plenty of brews with outstanding views 🍻.

Thanks for always saying yes to adventures and for always having a smile on your face, no matter the weather 😍

Here’s to more adventures, more laughs, and another year of memories made exactly like these✌️

The North West Highlands will blow you away. 🌊🏔️

This is one of Scotland’s most breathtaking corners, where mountains rise like islands, winding roads carve through ancient landscapes, and white-sand beaches feel like they belong somewhere far more tropical.

This autumn, we returned to explore more of this wild, remote region, from Assynt’s rugged peaks to the untamed beauty of Sandwood Bay. It’s everything we love about Scotland: raw, quiet, and completely unforgettable.

Frank was in his element. 🐾

Our latest NC500 road trip video is live, and the comments so far have been incredible! 🚐❤️

A happy detour

We weren’t supposed to end up in the Cairngorms, but we’re glad the storm last weekend forced us to change our plans

So, rather than heading to the wild coast of Skye, we headed on a roadtrip in our campervan to the wilds of the Cairngorms National Park 🍂🍁

And what a time to be here - the leaves and hills are golden, the air fresh and the evenings cosy

The autumn in the Cairngorms may just have become our favourite time to visit this incredible national park 👌

Five years, one scruffy dog, two vans, 14 countries, 20 Scottish Islands, a few too many breakdowns, and zero regrets.

Six years ago, we probably wouldn’t have believed you if you said we’d trade our London city life for a metal box on wheels and five years of travelling and working around the UK and Europe. But honestly? We’re so, so glad we took that leap into the unknown.

Over this half-decade we’ve met new friends, deepened our appreciation for the natural world, refocused our careers, and learned to live comfortably with less.

Most importantly, we’ve discovered what truly makes us happy.

We don’t know what the next five years will look like, but we do know that they will be filled with adventure.

There have been far too many adventures to fit into a 20 page carousel, but swipe through for a little glimpse of the journey - and thanks for following along with our travels ✌️
