I'm not frightened to admit I struggle with my mental health ever since I was diagnosed with cancer.

The operation's are long and leave you feeling drained and that's before you include the medication etc

sometimes I find myself crying randomly and other days I just don't want to do anything or go anywhere.

Recently I was diagnosed with PTSD and depression due to the trauma involved with Cancer but it doesn't define me it doesn't rule my life I work hard to get up and smile taking each hour as it it passes.

Surrounded by positive people who support you when you need itost and talking about it not feeling ashamed or embarrassed is very important to help get you back on track

But the nicest thing I find is the kindness from strangers it's incredible and it can really make a difference anyway waffle over

I just wanted to share this with people and who knows if you're going through a difficult time with your health both physically and mentally then reaching out can really help.

The winners will be announced at our Make a Difference awards ceremony which we’re planning on holding in September

For a fourth year BBC Radio Cumbria wants to celebrate and say thank you to people and animals living in our county who make where we live a better place.

The only way we can find our potential winners is by people in our community getting online and nominating those they feel worthy.
