About Karen Stead
Karen Stead, originally from Halifax, West Yorkshire in the UK, fell in love with writing and literature in sixth form whilst studying English Literature A level; from Dylan Thomas’ Sons and Lovers to Shakesphere’s Much Ado about Nothing. She loved the diversity of characters, the intriguing plots, the sometimes shock endings. Most of all she loved escaping into a book whilst reading it and then that sense of loss once the last page has been read and the story told. Books resonate with her and the characters stay around for a while after the book is back on the shelf.
She studied a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in French, Education and Computer Studies at university, that included a year living and working in Paris, France. She worked for a startup software company in the centre of London for a few years, before she found her niche as working as a Human Resource Consultant with many international clients. Finally after too many years working in the corporate world, she moved to Grenada in the West Indies with her family. It was in Carriacou (sister island to Grenada) and then Grenada, where she discovered her love of island living, wide open spaces, the beautiful sea, warm sun, cooling breezes, forgotten times, and people with no cares and no reason to hurry. This sparked her creativity and her passion for writing was reborn.
Unexpected Monet is her first novel and an unexpected achievement. Karen lets her imagination run wild and lead her down unexpected paths as she writes from experience with a whole lot of fiction thrown in.
