Who is Phantom?
Afibah âPhantomâ Mc Queen is a singer, rapper, record producer and actor; born on the beautiful island of Grenada. Heâs best known for mixing and producing hits for various famous artist such as Sizzla, Beenie man, Benjai, Terry Lyons and some of Grenadaâs very own; Mr Killa, Lava man, Luni Spark and Electrify and Terror Kid, Little natty & Thunder, Dash, Short Pree, Alma Boy; just to name a few. He has also proven to be one of the most versatile and hard working producers in the game.
BEGINNING OF CAREER
Phantom has forged his way into entertainment , producing numerous songs from Lincoln Bosco Samuelâs living room in 2000. Some of these tracks include; âStop thatâ, âShow timeâ and âTurn aroundâ. He later form a musical group called âFire Squadâ with few of his close friends. Fire Squad was an all-boys group whose final line-up comprised Black Majik, Vintage, Vigorous, Cash, Simba, Taz and Major. The group was well received and made an appearance at a Concert at the stadium which featured Beenie Man and Ninja Man in the early 2000âs.
In 2004, Phantom converted his bedroom into a music studio which was called Smoke Screen Production to center his focus mainly on a career in music. He form a group called âKlubb Knoxxâ with Gino, Nasis, Fame and himself, producing strictly Hiphop and Rnb. The group released several songs including; âOne night standâ and âCreepingâ.
CAREER PRODUCTION
In 2005, Phantom took the plunge into the soca world, producing the hit song âMash Dogâ for Elo on the Stompeed Riddem which also featured Terror Kid. The song was a great hit and was one of the most played that year. He then established himself as a Soca producer, producing several other songs, including Synnahâs â10 Jab commandmentâ, and Original Sans âThat doh bother meâ.
In the years following he became dominant force in Grenadian Soca music, producing for higher profile artist including Mr Killa. Phantom has produced numerous hits for the artist, including, âBadmindâon the badmind riddem and âGal yuh badâ featuring Sizzla Kalonji. He also did some work on most of Mr Killaâs Soca Monarch tunes, including songs like; âTrees in the breezeâ and âAll Gettonasâ.
In 2011, he recorded his first solo project titled âPain, Motivation, Successâ a 10 track ep. The ep was produced by Phantom and did well on the local music scene.
In 2015 Phantom made his way onto the video production scene and produced a music video for well known Jamaican dancehall artist Nah Vinci for his hit song âWhere do angels goâ which has amassed millions of views. Phantom has also shot numerous music videos locally.
WHERE IS HE NOW?
Phantom is still at it and is working with artists and producers regionally as well as internationally. Currently he is working with Tip God Music a label from Jamaica who works with Rygin King Tommy Lee Sparta, Chronic Law, Lvna, Maestro Don, Lulu X, Shakespeare Don Dada, Qraig Voicemail, Dane Ray, Stylez Music, Jashiii and Shauna Controlla. Locally he is working on an album for long time friend Cambodia.
INFLUENCES
Phantom has named Lincoln âBoscoâ Samuel as one of his biggest influence. He mentioned Bosco as a major role model during his career beginnings and he looked up to him from day one. Phantom also sited Motown Records, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Ace of Bass as influences but says that most of his inspiration come from his own life and struggles as a child growing up.

During a scan of 20 years in music, Phantom has definitely developed as an artist and producer.
