Mableton, GA (Atlanta Metro—October 15, 2025): On Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 6:56 pm, Cobb County Police Officers responded to the Lidl grocery store located at 4844 Floyd Road in Mableton after receiving a 911 call reporting a missing person.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim’s son, who stated that he had not heard from his mother since Thursday, October 9, something highly unusual for her. Using OnStar, he was able to locate his mother’s silver Chevrolet Equinox parked in the Lidl parking lot.
During the initial investigation, Cecil McCrary (56, Mableton), who arrived at the scene confirmed that Tange Davis (45, Mableton) was his girlfriend and said she had last been at his residence. He provided the officer with security footage showing her leaving his property Thursday night.
The officer then entered Tange Davis into the national missing persons database through the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC). The Cobb County Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit then assumed the investigation from patrol and worked diligently over the following days to locate her and determine the circumstances of her disappearance.
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, as concern for the victim’s safety grew, the department issued a public alert on social media requesting the community’s assistance. Later that evening, Cecil McCrary was taken into custody and interviewed by Major Crimes detectives. During that interview, he admitted to killing Tange Davis and burying her body in the City of Atlanta. Following this admission, the Atlanta Police Department was notified. Detectives from the Cobb County Police Major Crimes Unit responded to the location, where they discovered the remains of a female.
The Cobb County Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Tange Davis. This is a deeply tragic and senseless loss that has profoundly affected all who knew her and the broader community that had hoped for her safe return. We share in the grief of those mourning her and remain steadfast in our commitment to seek justice on her behalf.
“This loss devastates all of us,” said Cobb County Police Chief Dan Ferrell. “Our hearts are with her family, and we are reminded that behind every statistic is a person, a mother, a friend, a colleague whose life mattered. We remain committed to protecting those at risk to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.”
Officers had previously responded to multiple domestic violence incidents involving the suspect and the victim. At the time of this homicide, the suspect was out on pretrial release for kidnapping and aggravated assault charges related to those prior cases. Domestic violence is a devastating and pervasive issue that affects individuals and families in every community.
The Cobb County Police Department urges anyone experiencing abuse or fearing for their safety to seek help immediately.
