Some crazy cool conditions on the radio dial from 10-11pm last night here in Bear Country!
I have a program which is always scanning the FM dial and reporting back to a website what radio stations it catches. 99.9% of the time, it’s the usual local stations you can pick up on a day to day basis. However, last night, a phenomenon known as E-skip took place. This phenomenon typically only happens during the summer months, but can bring you FM radio stations from incredible distances.
Last night, the program which is always scanning the dial caught a ton of stations from Minnesota, and a single catch from South Dakota. The furthest catch was 91.3 KNBJ-FM from Bemidji, Minnesota at a whopping 1,121 miles!
Did any of you guys happen to catch these wild conditions on the radio dial last night? If you didn’t, have you ever in your lifetime stumbled across these conditions and heard stations from very far away places? If so, let me know in the comments. Would love to hear what y’all have received!
