Isla De Oro stresses how civilization may protect or exploit the innocence of humans, a beautiful place but it is where everyone's being exposed to the terror of the rebels, deceiving military and small time criminals. The island is both beautiful and chaotic Most of the fighting stems from the desire to control the island's natural resources, including diamonds, gold, and oil. Rebel groups frequently attack for control of Isla De Oro's mineral mines. The fighting has taken its toll on health clinics and island's establishment, leaving it a far cry from the progressive mainland Valyria and causing some people to die from common, preventable diseases. Everyone in the island struggles for survival, some have lost their sense of reason, they dismiss being rescued, and their attention is more focused on the conflict of power and hunting.
