NDC 24-hour Economy is Deceptive- NPP Claims
The National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s proposed 24-hour economy policy, branding it as deceptive, impractical, and lacking substance.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Mr Ahiagbah called the policy "deceptive and misleading" and without any real foundation, dismissing it as nothing more than a "silly joke."
He argued that the NDC's proposal failed to provide a sensible explanation of how it would be implemented effectively.
Mr. Richard Ahiagbah stresses the need for more serious and practical solutions to tackle the growing economic crisis in the country.

He contended that the NDC's 24-hour economy proposal was not a viable answer to the urgent challenges faced by young people seeking jobs and also not valuable to solve the economic crisis the NDC blamed the NPP for.

In his view, such policies were superficial and did little to address the core issues, urging instead for strategies that would bring about meaningful change in the economic and employment landscape.

He emphasized that the economic recovery policies of Dr Bawumia in the manifesto stand unique and visible to all Ghanaians.

He further stressed that if Mahama claims that Ghanaians should vote based on the economy then he should come over to tell Ghanaians his initiatives to improve the economy.
He charged Mahama to accept the challenge by Dr. Bawumia to have a debate on the economy and how to achieve the economic growth the country needs.

NPP CONGRATULATES ITS 'SISTER PARTY', THE REPUBLICAN PARTY (GOP) OF UNITED STATES, AND H.E Donald J. Trump FOR WINNING THE US GENERAL ELECTIONS.

US ELECTIONS: TRUMP WINS IN HISTORIC COMEBACK
Donald Trump has secured over the 270 Electoral College votes required to return to the White House for a second term, following his previous tenure from 2017 to 2021.
This win makes Trump the confirmed victor of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

In the early hours of Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Trump took the stage to declare victory after projections showed him winning crucial battleground states, including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. Shortly after, the Associated Press projected Wisconsin in his favour, solidifying his path back to the presidency.

“We made history for a reason tonight, and that reason is overcoming obstacles no one thought possible,” he said, calling it “the most incredible political achievement.”

With wins in these critical states, Trump’s victory appeared certain.

“It’s real!” shouted a young supporter who rushed to the front of the crowd, high-fiving friends and strangers in excitement.

Joined by family members—including daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, who had been absent during much of the campaign—as well as aides and supporters, Trump expressed gratitude to his followers and promised a prosperous era for the country.

Polls across the country closed on November 5, with voting proceeding smoothly overall. A candidate needs at least 270 Electoral College votes to win the presidency.

Meanwhile, the candidate for the Democrats, Kamala Harris, is yet to concede her loss.

The Alarming Rise of Smoking Among Minors in Ghana: A Growing Concern.

Ghana is facing a pressing public health issue due to the rapid increase in smoking addiction among minors.
According to recent statistics, the number of minors engaging in smoking has reached alarming levels, posing serious health risks and social consequences.

A study conducted by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) revealed that; 1 in 5 minors (21.4%) between the ages of 13-17 have tried smoking. 12.6% of minors in this age group smoke regularly. The prevalence of smoking among minors is higher in urban areas (15.6%) compared to rural areas (9.5%).

Several factors contribute to the growing trend of smoking among minors in Ghana such as lack of awareness; many minors are unaware of the dangers associated with smoking.
Also Peer pressure; friends and classmates often influence smoking habits. The accessibility; ci******es, sh**ha among others are readily available, and vendors frequently target minors. Socio-economic factors; poverty and lack of education can increase vulnerability.
However we can’t underestimate the consequences of smoking in the lives of these minors.
Respiratory problems; Asthma, bronchitis, and other respiratory issues. Cardiovascular disease; increased risk of heart disease and stroke.
Cancer; smoking is a leading cause of preventable cancer deaths.
Addiction; ni****ne dependence can lead to lifelong struggles.

Interventions
To address this prevailing problem, government and stakeholders must work together to ntegrate comprehensive to***co control education into school curricula.
The Legislature should enforce laws prohibiting to***co sales to minors.
Opinion leaders in various communities hould organize awareness campaigns periodically and support groups.
Parents should be encouraged to monitor and counsel their children.

Way Forward
Ghana must take immediate actions to protect its youth from the dangers of smoking strengthening to***co control laws and enforcement, Increasing funding for anti-smoking campaigns, Collaborating with schools and community leaders and Providing accessible counseling and support services.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has doubled down on his demand for the New Patriotic Party’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to address critical issues regarding Ghana’s economy, rather than deflecting with “useless” questions.Speaking at a rally in the Savelugu Constituency on Wednesday, former president and Flagbearer of the NDC, Mahama ridiculed Vice President Bawumia’s response to his initial economic queries with a list of 50 counter-questions.This comes in response to Dr Bawumia’s recent decision to respond to Mr Mahama’s five economic questions with his 50 questions. Mr Mahama had initially challenged Dr Bawumia to address critical economic issues, asking:* Why is the exchange rate now GH¢17 to the dollar?* Why has Ghana’s debt increased from GH¢120 billion to GH¢767 billion in the past eight years?* Why has inflation risen to 54% under the current administration?* Why has the government borrowed GH¢42 billion from the Bank of Ghana?* Why he is running away from the economy and focusing on digitalisation?Reiterating these questions at Savelugu, Mr Mahama urged Dr Bawumia to answer them directly, arguing that they reflect the concerns of ordinary Ghanaians.“I woke up this morning and saw 50 questions from him. It looks like our Vice President has just memorised these things like we used to learn poems in primary school.“I asked you five simple questions that Ghanaians want you to answer, and instead, you respond with, ‘How many compost plants did you build?’ That’s not the issue in Ghana today.”To emphasize the importance of economic issues, Mr Mahama drew a parallel with the 1992 U.S. election, citing the Clinton campaign’s famous slogan, “It’s the economy, stupid!” He stated, “I am repeating those words. This election is about the economy, Stupid. It is not about all those useless things who built how many compost plants.”
