President of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF), Isaac Aboagye Duah, assisted by GTF Board Member and Diamond Rackets Coordinator, Zenabu Sulemana, presented a framed portrait of the 2025 Diamond Rackets Team that represented Ghana at the Billie Jean King Cup in Namibia, to MTN Corporate Services and Sustainability Unit.

This was to thank MTN for their support towards the team's preparation and during the Billie Jean King Cup Africa Zone III edition hosted by the Namibia Tennis Federation.

On behalf of the tennis community in Ghana, the board expresses our sincere appreciation to MTN for its commitment to supporting individual players, especially those from less state-financed Federations.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo kicked off the maiden UG Corporate Tennis Championship in style, in the curtain raiser, and what a thrilling match it was! VC and her partner, Isaac Aboagye Duah (President of Ghana Tennis Federation) clinched a 6–2 victory, earning cheers and well-deserved bragging rights! The excitement continued as teams from the Volta River Authority, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Stanbic Bank PLC and GOIL PLC battled it out in a day of fun, energy and serious tennis action. Kudos to the UG Sports & Wellness Directorate for organizing such a vibrant and spirited event!

In Loving Memory of Ifedayo Akindoju

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our beloved brother, friend, Vice President of the Confederation of African Tennis and President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, the late Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju,.

Mr. Akindoju was not only a visionary leader but also a passionate advocate for the growth of tennis in Nigeria and across Africa. His dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment touched the lives of countless players, coaches, and colleagues, leaving an indelible mark on our sport.

“Dayo” was a true friend — a man of his word, guided by wisdom, strong values, and deep commitment to his family. His presence and leadership will be deeply missed, not only by African Tennis but by the global tennis family

On behalf of the Confederation of African Tennis, and in my personal capacity, I extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire tennis community in Nigeria, across Africa, and throughout the world of tennis. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him and working alongside him.

May the Almighty God grant him eternal peace, shower him with His endless mercy, and welcome his soul into everlasting paradise.

Our hosting of the thrilling West Africa Zone 12&Under African Junior Championship (AJC) (Team) Tournament has just ended.
Accra, Ghana — September 15 -19, 2025
Under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), the West Africa Zone 12&Under African Junior Championship (Team) Tournament, held from September 15 to 19, 2025, at the Goldcoast Tennis Club, concluded today. The event brought together rising tennis talents from across the region, showcasing exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and continental camaraderie.
Over five days of spirited competition, national teams from Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Togo battled for top honors in both boys’ and girls’ categories. The final day delivered electrifying matchups that sealed the tournament’s standings.
🎾 Final Day Highlights – Boys
Ghana faced Benin in a tightly contested tie:
• Ivan (BEN) def. Jefter Dowouna (GH) — 6-2, 6-2
• Maxwell Antwi (GH) def. Amge (BEN) — 6-1, 6-3
• Dowouna/Antwi (GH) def. Ivan/Amge (BEN) — 6-4, 6-3
Ghana clinched the tie 2-1, securing the boys’ championship title.

🎾 Final Day Highlights – Girls
Ghana met a formidable Nigerian side in the finals:
• Atilota Mofifunowa (NGR) def. Grace Tetteh (GH) — 6-1, 6-0
• Opuene Karina (NGR) def. Emmanuella Williams (GH) — 6-3, 6-0
• Karina/Rasaki Mabubat (NGR) def. Tetteh/Williams (GH) — 6-1, 6-3
Nigeria swept the tie 3-0, emerging as girls’ champions.

Ghana is set to make history once again as the Ghana Tennis Federation proudly announces that the country will host the prestigious ITF/CAT Western (2) 12 & Under African Junior Teams’ Competition from 15th to 19th September 2025 at the Ghana Lawn Tennis Club, Accra.

The tournament will see young talents from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Benin, and Liberia compete for a chance to qualify for the continental finals.

Ghana has made an impressive mark in the ongoing Davis Cup by securing a remarkable victory against Mauritius. Here’s a breakdown of their triumphant performances:

Match 1:
• Samuel Agbesi Osei Antwi showcased his prowess, defeating Daniel Bazu in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. A dominant performance that set the tone for the day!

Match 2:
• Isaac Nortey delivered an outstanding performance, winning against Rushil Seewoosurrun with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory. Nortey’s consistency and control were remarkable.
