President John Dramani Mahama announced the construction of a 6 lanes Expressway linking Accra to Kumasi, which will start in 2026 and end in 2028-2029.

However, most Ghanaians are questioning the rationale behind this development since we already have the dualization Accra-Kumasi Kumasi highway, which seems to have stalled. Most Ghanaians are rather asking the government to continue the dualization project which started by the previous administration and instead building a new highway, that the government should rather consider linking Accra to Kumasi by railway line and a high speed train.
