DON'T IMPOSE THIS RETIRED INCOMPETENT MD ON ECG

The Divisional Executive Committee of ECG Senior and Junior Staff Union of the public Utility workers union (PUWU) of TUC - Ghana, deliberated on certain pertinent issues affecting the operation and industrial harmony of the ECG.

Mr Michael Adumatta Nyantayi The General Secretary of the Union
in his speech stated that the continuous stay in office of Mr Kwame Agyeman Badu as managing Director after attaining 60 years on February 17 2022, in the light of negative effect his tenure as managing Director has brought to the company.

He later said,The joint National Executive Committee which is the second highest representative body of the workers,is of the firm belief that the creeping instance of contract extension for some to Management staff of the company,is not helping the progress of the company.
The meeting in it's deliberations recalled the 2016 disturbances and chaotic situation that erupted simultaneously,at the various district of ECG operational areas on a contract extension given to the then Managing Director and would not like the rank and file to re-visit that event.

He further said The deficiency in the managerial competence of Mr. Kwame Agyeman Budu had manifested in the following results: Acute shortage of meters( some customers have paid for new service for over six (6) months and still waiting)
Lack of Electrical Cables for key maintenance and service connections.
Shortage of electrical poles for new service and repair works.
Absence of basic office materials such as common stationery is affecting the smooth running of the Company.
Demonstration of "one man show" type of leadership (couple with disrespect and virtual abuse of some Directors and General Managers)
Favoritism in certain appointments, which is destroying the spirit of competence and merit within the company.
Delays in payment of deductions from staff salaries for Mutual Fund, Credit Union and other welfare contributions.

Mr .Kwame Agyeman should not be given any contact extension, and forwarded same to the Board of Directors for their attention and necessary action.we again took cognisance of allegation of workers on Friday,9th Apirl, 2021 that requested for the removal of Mr Kwame Agyeman Badu from office as many Director due to poor performance mostly in areas of technical and financial operations which is gradually sinking ECG as a going concern. As at December,2021 the aggregate system loss is around 30 percent.

So we further acknowledge that Mr. Kwame Agyeman Budu had finished his stewardship with ECG and think the appropriate and befitting thing to do is for him to retire Honourable without inviting industrial disturbances and that the meeting rejected and imposition of Mr. Kwame Agyeman Budu on the ECG Staff. The resolution intimated that any contact extension will not help sustain the current peaceful and congenital industrial atmosphere within the company.
