Mali has taken a significant step towards ending its dependence on France by canceling 11 colonial agreements that were imposed on African countries since 1960.
These agreements included provisions related to repaying colonial debt, depositing national financial reserves with the Banque de France, granting France the first right to purchase natural resources, giving priority to French interests and companies in public procurement, providing military equipment and training officers to France, allowing France to deploy troops and intervene militarily, making French the official language, using the CFA Franc currency, submitting annual reports to France, renouncing military alliances without France's authorization, and obligating alliance with France in times of war or crisis. These agreements have been widely criticized for maintaining control and influence over the African countries involved. Mali's decision to cancel these agreements represents a move towards greater sovereignty and autonomy for the country.
DEAR COMPATRIOTS, IN VIEW OF ALL THESE MORAL, PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SCAMS, THE NEW AFRICAN GENERATION MUST DO ITS PART TO RESTORE THE NATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS OF OUR CONTINENT IN ORDER TO LEAVE A WORTHY LEGACY TO FUTURE GENERATIONS.
