One Dead, Others Hurt in Accident Involving Five Trucks on Great North Road in Mpika

A truck driver has died and others injured while others escaped unhurt in a horrific road accident involving five trucks that occurred at Danger Hill along the Great North Road in Mpika District.
The driver believed to be a Tanzaniaan, whose details have not been identified, was driving a Faw truck bearing an unknown registration number and had his body trapped in the burnt truck.
The accident happened when the driver lost control of the motor vehicle due to excessive speed and went off the road to the right side, hitting the second motor vehicle, which was parked from behind and due to the impact, it caught fire.
The flames spread and burnt the third motor vehicle, loaded with fertilizer, as well as the fourth and fifth motor vehicles, loaded with copper.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Dennis Moola confirmed the development, stating that it occurred on Sunday, 3rd August 2025, around 19:00 hours.
Mr. Moola said the driver of the second vehicle, a Scania truck carrying an unknown number of litres of fuel, which was parked, sustained bruises on both hands, bruises on the left knee, and general body pains, and was treated as an outpatient at Mpika Urban Clinic.
He said Ramazin Mupemba, aged 36, of Tanzania, driver of the third motor vehicle, a Faw truck loaded with 640 bags of fertilizer destined for Lusaka, which was parked on the left side of the road, escaped unhurt.
Mr. Moola said Felix Thomas, aged 28, of Tanzania, driver of the fourth motor vehicle, a Faw truck loaded with copper destined for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, which was parked, escaped unhurt.
He said the driver of the fifth motor vehicle, a Faw truck, of unknown age, sustained injuries and fled the scene of the accident.
