Bride-to-be dies in an accident while sharing wedding invitations

What was meant to be a celebration of love has ended in heartbreak, as Ghanaian bride-to-be Ms. Florence Anane lost her life just days before her wedding.

Florence, who was set to marry her longtime partner, Bernard Sie Kwame, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, was k,illed in a road accident while distributing her wedding invitation cards.

According to eyewitnesses, Florence was hìt by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road to hand out invitations to family and friends. She died on the spot.

The couple had been together for five years and were described as deeply in love, excitedly counting down to their big day.

News of Florence’s sudden death has left many in tears, with sympathies pouring in from across the country.

Her devastated fiancé, Bernard, is said to be struggling to cope with the loss of the woman he had planned to spend the rest of his life with.

Instead of walking down the aisle, the families are now planning a funeral, turning what should have been a day of joy into one of mourning.

The man who ASSASS!NATED Thomas Sankara was his childhood friend.
His name is Blaise Compaoré.
Blaise Compaoré and Thomas Sankara grew up together and lived together.
Blaise Compaoré was raised by Thomas Sankara’s father. They lived like brothers.
Blaise Compaoré and Thomas Sankara joined the Burkina Faso army together.

When Sankara became President of Burkina Faso, he made Blaise Compaoré his Vice President.

Little did Sankara know his childhood friend and brother would later kill him.
Five days before Compaoré assass!nated Sankara, they both had an event where they danced and drank together.

Sankara was briefed by the country’s Intelligence Unit about Compaoré’s plans to assassinate him.
As someone he grew up together with, Sankara dismissed the possibility that his childhood friend and brother would do much to him.
Sankara was reluctant to go after his friend. He could not believe it.

October 15, 1987, Thomas Sankara was assassinated in a coup led by his childhood friend, the man he grew up together with, the man he loved, the man he took as his brother — Blaise Compaoré.
Sankara was shot eleven times in the chest, and four times in the head by Compaoré’s men.
Shortly after the coup, Sankara's father asked Compaoré "where is your brother, Thomas". He couldn't answer.

Blaise Compaoré became the President of Burkina Faso shortly after he had k!lled Sankara.
He reverted many of Sankara's Pan-African policies. He continued relations with France and rejoined the IMF.
He is currently living in Ivory Coast. He never paid for his crime.

…Reasons Behind the Assassination…
The reasons behind Sankara's assassination are complex and multifaceted. Some of the key factors include :

Disagreements over policy and ideology: Sankara's revolutionary policies and anti-imperialist stance may have alienated some of his former allies, including Compaoré.

Opposition from France and its allies: Sankara's refusal to accept loans and capital from organizations like the International Monetary Fund and his efforts to reduce Burkina Faso's dependence on France may have created enemies abroad.

Internal power struggles: Compaoré may have seen Sankara as a threat to his own power and ambitions, leading him to orchestrate the assassination.

…Aftermath of the Assassination…
After Sankara's assassination, Compaoré retained power until the 2014 Burkina Faso uprising. In 2021, Compaoré was formally charged with and found guilty of Sankara's murder by a military tribunal.

Veteran Journalist Abatey Breaks Down in Tears After Signing Daddy Lumba’s Book of Condolence

Veteran sports journalist Kofi Asare Brako, widely known as Abatey, was full of emotions as he signed the Book of Condolence of Highlife legend Daddy Lumba; in fact, he could not contain his emotions

He arrived at the private residence of the late highlife legend as a lifelong admirer, bidding farewell to a personal hero.

Once he sat before the Book of Condolence, memories flooded in: the music, the voice, and the messages in the songs.

Following his signing, journalists approached him, and emotion took over as his voice trembled as he spoke, his eyes welled up, and then the tears flowed.

He said, "Wa yɛ wa fɛm diɛ, Ghana da wa si," he said through sobs. It means, “You have done your part; Ghana is grateful for your works.”

According to Abatey, the loss felt personal as he revealed that he had recently been unwell but had recovered, and that gave him hope that Daddy Lumba would also bounce back as well but life had other plans.

Mahama saw that Lumba was physically not okay when they met at Senior Citizens Day event and wanted to help him – A-Plus

Musician and political activist A-Plus has shared that President John Dramani Mahama had privately shown concern about Daddy Lumba’s health before his passing and had plans to support him.

According to A-Plus, the president noticed something wasn’t right when he saw Lumba at the Senior Citizens Day event.

“He told me Lumba didn’t look too well and that he wanted to help. He reached out, but Lumba, being very private, said he wanted to prepare before meeting him,” A-Plus said in an interview with GhanaWeb.

He added that Mahama even followed up twice, asking if Lumba had been contacted, but the highlife legend held back due to personal reasons.

“Now that he’s gone, I know the president will still do what he can to honour him,” he added.

The German Embassy in Accra has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Daddy Lumba, a Ghanaian highlife legend known in real life s Charles Kwadwo Fosu.

In a statement issued on Facebook, the embassy mourned his passing and honoured his legacy

The embassy stated that Germany played a pivotal role in shaping legends' career, particularly in the development of the "Borga Highlife" genre.

The statement read, "Germany played a formative role in his illustrious career. It was during his time there that Daddy Lumba transitioned from gospel to highlife, met fellow musician Nana Acheampong in 1989, and together formed the iconic Lumba Brothers. Their collaboration significantly contributed to the rise of 'Borga Highlife' – a genre blending Ghanaian rhythms with Western influences, emerging from the vibrant Ghanaian diaspora in Germany."

"Daddy Lumba lived in Cologne and recorded music in Düsseldorf and Monheim am Rhein, working with renowned German producers. In his song 'Homeless,' he even wove in German phrases – a rare and symbolic gesture reflecting his lived experience between two cultures. We honour his artistic excellence and celebrate the enduring cultural connections he helped build," the statement read.
