Gov't Warns Public About QNET Scam, Urges Caution
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana has issued a public warning about the activities of individuals and networks associated with QNET and similar schemes. The ministry has received reports of Ghanaian nationals being lured to travel abroad under false pretences, including promises of employment opportunities, business prospects, and assistance in securing European visas.
According to the ministry, several victims have been stranded, detained by foreign immigration authorities, or subjected to distressing and exploitative conditions abroad. The ministry is urging the public, particularly Ghanaian youth, to exercise extreme caution and verify all travel, recruitment, and business offers through official channels before making any financial commitments or travelling outside Ghana.
"Members of the public are therefore strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and to verify all travel, recruitment, and business offers through appropriate and official channels before making any financial commitments or travelling outside Ghana," the statement said.
The ministry is also urging parents, guardians, and community leaders to support efforts to educate the public on the dangers associated with such schemes. The warning comes as part of the ministry's efforts to protect the welfare of Ghanaian citizens and curb the activities of criminal networks who prey on unsuspecting individuals. The ministry remains committed to working with relevant national institutions to address the issue.
Ghanaian nationals are advised to be vigilant and not fall prey to such scams. Verify information, be cautious of unsolicited offers, and report suspicious activities to the authorities.
