Nana Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bulldog, has filed a lawsuit against dancehall musician Shatta Wale, claiming that the latter is responsible for the 2014 murder of artiste manager Fennec Okyere.
The defamation lawsuit follows Shatta Wale's promise to reveal a purported secret of Bulldog over his alleged involvement in the death of Fennec Okyere last week.

On November 2, 2022, Shatta Wale published the accusation in a social media post.

Bulldog says that Shatta Wale repeatedly went public with allegations damaging his reputation and linking him to the death of Fennec Okyere in a writ submitted on Monday, November 7, 2022.

Bulldog is requesting a court injunction compelling Shatta Wale to recant his "defamatory" claims and extend his unconditional apology period by eight days.

In addition, he is suing his former performer for special and punitive damages related to the release.

About 80 majority members of parliament have requested that the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, and the minister of state for the ministry, Charles Adu Boahen, be removed from their positions immediately in order to help boost the trust in the Ghanaian economy.

The group declared that if the president ignores their request, it will not conduct business with the government.

Members of the majority would not take part in any government business, including the budget hearing, until their demands are addressed, said spokesperson Andy Appiah-Kubi, NPP Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North constituency, during a press conference on Tuesday at Parliament House.

"The majority has expressed great concern about our economy and our attempts at reaching out to the president through his Ministers have failed.

“We are by this serving notice and indeed, notice is being served now that if the president fails to act, we will not do business with him," he said.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not getting any sympathy from Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), about the current economic difficulties.

Despite skyrocketing fuel costs, the wild fall of the cedi, and overall misery in Ghana, Mr. Gyamfi claims he is unable to understand why the leader of the government's Economic Management Team, who was acclaimed by New Patriotic Party supporters as a "economic savior," has stayed mute.

The NDC stalwart criticized the Vice President on Twitter.

“Will things ever get better?” Sammy Gyamfi asked.

Following the murder of eight laborers in April at a flooded zinc mine in Burkina Faso's west, a court found two mining executives guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

Hein Frey, the South African director of the Canadian-owned Perkoa zinc mine, was convicted guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 24 months suspended imprisonment and a $3,000 (£2,600) fine.

After unexpected severe rains, flood waters swamped the mine, trapping the miners.

Six Burkinabés, a Zambian, and a Tanzanian were among those killed. A 24-hour search and rescue attempt had been launched to try to save the miners who had been operating at a depth of more than 500 meters. The mine's flooding sparked national indignation.

En "Aisha" Huang was apprehended as part of a National Security operation after allegedly'sneaking' back into the country to resume illicit mining.

Aisha is currently facing criminal accusations in an Accra Circuit Court alongside three others.

Admissions to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for kidney diseases have tripled in the last decade (KATH).

Outpatient cases of kidney disease have also quadrupled, with many of these patients coming from mining towns.

Officials at the health facility attribute the growing problem to the use of mercury in illegal mining activities taking place in some of Ghana's farmlands and forest areas.

Dr Elliott Tannor, a nephrologist at KATH, revealed that the chemical used in gold extraction has a direct effect on the kidney, heart, and brain.

He stated that people living in illegal mining areas are exposed to toxic metals through inhalation and consumption of community water sources.
