FEATURE | COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, ( )continues to earn praise for her leadership at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), with many observers pointing to renewed professionalism, urgency and results in the fight against crime.

Since taking office, the CID has intensified investigations into robbery, cybercrime, child trafficking and murder cases, while also reopening some cold cases, including the Adabraka gold theft case which recently saw arrests after fresh investigations.

Many Ghanaians say the CID now appears more responsive and disciplined compared to previous years when concerns were raised over delays in investigations. Some have also argued that stronger leadership and quicker action in past high-profile cases could have changed outcomes.

Her rise in the security service is increasingly being seen as an inspiration to young Ghanaian women, with supporters describing her as disciplined, intelligent, hardworking and committed to national service.
