“Emily in Paris” returns, as does the show's fashion.

Will viewers think this season has a more realistic approach to French dressing?

After “Emily in Paris” arrived on Netflix last fall, the series was derided for portraying a fantasy version of French culture. Parisians bristled at the show’s inaccuracies and clichés, from people smoking in the office to the number of berets on screen.

Still, the show provided a welcome escape for those stuck at home. The clothes played a part in that. For Season 2, out today, Marylin Fitoussi, the show’s costume designer, and Patricia Field, the show’s costume consultant, were determined to push the show’s fashions even further.
