The author has carefully structured this review with the basic school pupil in mind. The review has therefore been made very, very simple. A. CERTIFICATE IN CREATIVE WRITING
The Certificate in Creative Writing is intended for participants who are interested in developing their creative talents in writing. Starting with a course in creative writing fundamentals, students can then explore the genres which most interest them: Poetry, Short Fiction/Novel, Drama, Screen Writing, Creative Non-Fiction, etc.
The programme is designed to encourage participants to self-reflexively assess their own writing by providing them with additional perspectives from which to view their writing. Participants will be exposed to the society of other writers through workshop sessions where they will share their work with their peers and give and receive constructive criticism designed to aid their development as writers.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CREATIVE WRITING AND LITERATURE?
English Literature is the study of what has already been written, whereas Creative Writing in English is the study and practice of new works from prose and poetry to screenwriting, to creative non-fiction, journalism and experimental writing.
WHY STUDY CREATIVE WRITING?
The course trains you to be a professional writer—to earn a living simply by writing.

THOSE WHO WISH TO DO FURTHER STUDIES?
Regardless of your qualification, participants who successfully complete the course may qualify to pursue Masters of Arts degree in creative writing or Masters in Fine Arts in any university of their choice. Because writing is considered the last bit of schooling, writers with publishable manuscripts are not required to undertake undergraduate studies before enrolment in a graduate school for language related programmes. Famous universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, York and Birberck all do observe this policy. This means that even with a high school certificate, participants with writing promise who successfully complete the course may proceed straight to a masters programme. NO NEED FOR A FOUR-YEAR BARCHELORS DEGREE!!!!!!!!
CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT
Before we award the certificate, the participant is expected to complete a thesis and a dissertation. The thesis—a 20 page manuscript could be one long work in prose, a collection of short stories, poetry, drama, creative non-fiction or a combination of works in various genres.
B. CERTIFICATE IN ACADEMIC WRITING
Our Certificate in Academic Writing based on effective critical thinking and practical reasoning, offers participants the opportunity to enhance and accredit their writing skills, enabling them to communicate effectively and prepare for future writing tasks in both academic and professional contexts.
The course is designed for pre-university students, people who are already in college, have finished college and wish to pursue post graduate programmes successfully and professionals such as Journalists, Public Relations Officers, Police Detectives, Institutional Heads, etc.
COURSE I
Focuses on the principles and practical applications of effective writing. Students apply effective writing strategies to address a variety of professional and academic audiences. Students plan, outline, write, and revise reader-centred documents that relate to forms and contexts they will encounter in the workplace and in educational environments.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to
• recognise the iterative nature of the writing process and employ proven strategies to effectively revise your own writing;
• participate in a writing community that fosters independent, peer, and collaborative writing skills to become a more intentional communicator;
• practice writing in different styles and formats to meet the needs and expectations of academic and professional audiences;
• use clear writing strategies to resolve common errors by identifying and correcting weaknesses in grammar, mechanics, style, and tone.
• COURSE II
A study of the basic principles of academic writing, including a series of assignments that emphasise logical organisation, stylistic clarity, and grammatical precision.
Learning Outcomes
After completing Course II, students should be able to do the following:
• Identify the differences between an argumentative and an expository essay
• Identify the basic parts of the academic essay and use them effectively in your own essay assignments
• Analyse writing (yours, your peers’, and professional writers’) to identify argumentative strategies and assess how effective they are
• Recognise common grammar and style errors and how to correct them
• Apply strategies to revise, edit, and proofread your own work to make it more polished and clear
• Assess research material and use documentation techniques to integrate source material effectively into your own writing
• Apply the elements of effective essay-writing to evaluate full essays and their parts
• Interpret feedback received from peers, TAs, and instructor and apply that feedback to your own writing to make it more persuasive, coherent, and clear
CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT
Before we award the certificate, the participant is expected to complete a thesis and a dissertation. In addition the participant must have published in a newspaper (Preferably the Daily Graphic or The Mirror) a research article, a feature or an academic essay of not less than 800 words. Yes 800 words!

THE EYES OF DORA

I clearly see over a billion eyes
Yet only two speak to me
They hit me right away at sight
They come with so much passion; they leave me at times with fright
When I pretend not to take notice of them
They become so aggressive; they pierce me like a laser
Truly, these are the eyes that can pe*****te the September fog on the hills
And yes! I know the one wears these mysterious eyes

In this land, many few things are considered a taboo
But getting your claws into a stranger is one
These eyes have defied customs in many times and in many ways
Yet subconsciously, I have refused to succumb to its charm
And I have done so at my own peril and harm
Beneath my immovable posture though
I am dying to take home these priceless set of eyes

These eyes bring charm and cheerfulness
It is in no two ways the only thing
That can bring into my gloomy world, contentment and bliss
But In such a self inflicting situation, I am passionately becoming the author of my own misfortune
And I can be portrayed as stubborn, for I have pledged and vowed in dreams and in visions
I have solemnly sworn secretly to savour its syrupy sweetness

These eyes are both beautiful and buoyant
If I lose them I wouldn’t be able to pay the huge penalty
I might search in vain forever, trying to find another true set which may not exist
I am not in love with Dora but her eyes; and only her eyes
They strike me still and make me lose my objectivity
They bring my world to a standstill; my composure and my creativity
If these eyes draw closer to me, I encounter authentic affection and absolute peace
And exactly for these reasons I wrote this piece.
