The Ghana Police Service has arrested a young man identified as Coffie Agyemang for allegedly attempting to sell his three-year-old son for GH¢1 million.

The arrest followed a video that began circulating on X on January 13, 2026, in which it was reported that the suspect, a resident of Kwamang, had discussed plans to sell the child to an associate, allegedly citing financial hardship as his motive. According to the reports, the police were alerted to the situation and subsequently posed as a prospective buyer, leading to Agyemang’s arrest.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case and to ensure the child’s safety.
