Several students from Ben Kunadu SDA Basic School in Asante Akyem are feared dead after their bus crashed on the Aseseeso stretch between Adukrom and Somanya.

The bus, carrying 62 children on an excursion to Akosombo, reportedly lost control while descending a hill and somersaulted before landing on its side.

Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey, who was passing by, joined rescue efforts, helping transport some injured students to Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital.

Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance teams are at the scene, working to recover trapped victims.

Three teenage girls allegedly attacked their mom and tried to stab her with kitchen knives because she turned off the Wi-Fi, according to authorities in Texas.

The three siblings -- ages 14, 15 and 16 -- "allegedly coordinated a plan to try and kill" their mother, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Because the mom turned off the Wi-Fi, the teens allegedly grabbed kitchen knives Sunday night and chased their mother through their Houston home and into the street, according to the sheriff.

One of the girls threw a brick that hit their 39-year old mom in the ankle, and the girls' 70-year-old grandmother was knocked over while attempting to protect the mom, the sheriff's office said.

The mother and grandmother were not seriously hurt, the sheriff's office said.

The three siblings were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and were booked in the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the sheriff's office.

A Ghanaian football fan who invaded the pitch during the Black Stars' match against Chad has been sentenced to 100 days in prison by the Accra District Court.

The fan, identified as Mohammed Huzeinu, was handed the sentence after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) took legal action against him for the offence.

In a statement released on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the GFA expressed concern that the incident could result in a fine from international football authorities.

The Ghana football governing body revealed that they have already paid a total of $30,000 in fines due to two previous pitch invasions in Cape Coast and Kumasi.

Pitch invasion is widely considered a serious security breach and often carries criminal charges.

Huzeinu breached security protocols and stormed the pitch during Ghana's 5-0 victory over Chad on Friday, March 21, 2025.

He ran onto the field and hugged Antoine Semenyo before security personnel intervened and escorted him off the pitch.

The GFA paid $10,000 when a fan invaded the pitch in Cape Coast and another $20,000 when another fan invaded the pitch at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, totaling $30,000 in cost to the Association, and to Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The sentencing serves as a strong warning to fans to respect stadium regulations and maintain order during matches.

The FA has consistently urged fans to refrain such actions, emphasising the importance of discipline and adherence to match-day protocols to avoid fines and maintain Ghana's reputation in international football.

JUST IN: Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-Hee has died, a spokesperson for the South Korean tech giant said on Tuesday. He was 63.

Born in 1962, Han had overseen Samsung’s consumer electronics and mobile devices businesses since 2022, according to the company. He was named Samsung Electronics vice chairman and co-CEO in 2022. Han’s co-CEO, Jun Young-Hyun, heads its semiconductor business.

In an internal message seen by CNN, Samsung paid tribute to Han, saying he had dedicated more than 37 years of his life to leading Samsung’s TV business to become a global leader. As the head of its electronics and appliances businesses, he also contributed to the company’s growth amid a “challenging business environment.”

“Our deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the message said.

Pope Francis leaves hospital after first public appearance in five weeks

Pope Francis left Rome's Gemelli hospital on Sunday following a five-week stay to be treated for pneumonia, making his first public appearance since February 14 by waving to well-wishers from a balcony moments before he was discharged.

Francis, 88, went to hospital on February 14 with a severe respiratory infection that became the most serious health crisis of his 12-year papacy.

A car carrying Francis left the hospital shortly after noon on Sunday, and was accompanied through Rome by a convoy of police vehicles towards the Basilica of Saint Mary Major.

The pontiff, who has a special devotion to the church and goes there frequently, returned to the Vatican shortly after the visit.

The pope's doctors said on Saturday it would still take "a lot of time" for his aging body to fully heal, and said they had prescribed the pontiff a further two months of rest at the Vatican.

Just before leaving the hospital on Sunday, Francis smiled and waved at a group of well-wishers gathered outside. He used a wheelchair, as he has for several years.

His face looked swollen and he appeared only for a few moments, speaking briefly, with a feeble voice, to thank one of the members of the crowd below, who had brought yellow flowers.

He had only been seen by the public once before during his hospital stay, in a photo the Vatican released last week, showing the pontiff at prayer in a hospital chapel.

The pope, who has been receiving oxygen to help him breathe throughout his stay in hospital, was breathing on his own during the public appearance. But he was seen using a small hose under his nose for oxygen while travelling in his car.

In the moments before the pontiff's appearance on Sunday, the crowd of hundreds of well-wishers called out for him, chanting "Francis, Francis, Francis".

THANKS DOCTORS FOR 'TIRELESS CARE'
