Power crash out of CAF Champions League

Zambian champions Power Dynamos were eliminated from the CAF Champions League preliminary round following a 2-0 aggregate defeat to Sudan’s Al Merrikh. Power lost the return leg 1-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on September 12, 2026, after also dropping the first leg 1-0 in Kigali. Coach Oswald Mutapa cited a lack of goal conversion in both matches as the primary reason for the exit, acknowledging Al Merrikh’s superior organization. Al Merrikh will now advance to the Second Preliminary Round in October.

A Thai monk was arrested for having s*x on a table and stealing $2.8 million in donations.

The 66-year-old abbot of one of the country’s oldest temples embezzled nearly $2.8 million over two years by transferring the money to a 47-year-old accomplice.

Police also found footage from the monk’s residence showing the couple having s*x right on the dining table.

S*x is strictly forbidden for Buddhist monks, so he was defrocked, and the table in question was seized as evidence.

Singer Mercy Wachinga Maina, 32, was found dead in her Nairobi apartment weeks after neighbours last saw her. She had been living at Forhome Court for about two years and was described as private, kind, and quiet. Her monthly rent was KSh 65,000.

Neighbours last saw her around August 10. That day, she had spoken to her mother and appeared normal — residents recalled seeing her in high spirits, giving money to children in the neighbourhood. Around the same time, she gave away her cat, Woods, saying she no longer wanted to keep it, though the cat remained at the apartment block and neighbours continued feeding it.

Weeks later, a cleaner noticed a strong smell from Mercy's locked apartment and alerted management. Building manager Fred Kombo contacted police, and on September 3, authorities entered the house after she failed to respond. Mercy was found on her bed…

Kakamega court sentences woman to 50 years for drug trafficking

Rachael Akinyi Juma was found guilty of trafficking 5 kilograms of bhang worth approximately KSh 16,600 and sentenced to 50 years in prison or a KSh 50 million fine.

On June 12, 2019, police raided her rented house in the Murram area of Kakamega Central Sub County based on information from members of the public. Officers recovered 22 brooms containing the bhang during the raid.

Juma was charged under Section 4(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act.

Three arrested over TikTok gang r**e and robbery scheme in Ruai

Detectives have arrested Emanuel Bosire Arisa, Ismail Ouru Arisa, and Brian Gatheru Nderitu over an alleged scheme targeting young women. According to the DCI, the three allegedly operated an anonymous TikTok account to contact women and arrange meetings, then led them to secluded or abandoned areas where they were s*xually assaulted and robbed.

Victims were allegedly forced to transfer money via M-Pesa, while others lost mobile phones and valuables. Detectives recovered six mobile phones and two hooded jackets during the arrests

The three suspects have been positively identified by five victims in separate cases reported in Buruburu, Embakasi, and Ruai. Investigations continue to trace other possible victims and people linked to the alleged network.
